National Book Week Are Called "Miracle Products", Available At Library This is National Book Week. Just because it is a one week celebration, don’t get the idea that the library is closed the rest of the year. It isn’t. To quote a NEWSWEEK 1963 copyright, “If someone brought out a miracle product that would teach you to argue more ef fectively, to dazzle women with your logic, to astound men with your command of facts, to enchant children with glistening stories, to understand the people of China, India and Russia, to lose weight, to build muscle tone, to get a raise, to under stand the confusion among economists, . . . what a long line of customers it would at tract! But such a product al ready exists. It’s called a book. It’s available at your neighborhood library”. Since this “miracle prod uct” exists right in Brevard, you don’t have to organize a new group or yut out money, just start using the Transyl vania County Library more. Mrs. Charles Fjnnamore will put on a PUPPET SHOW for children Saturday, November 20, at 9:30 a.m. as a climax to our local observance of Na tional Book Week. Puppet shows presented through the summer under the auspices of Friends of the Library are always well at tended. These shows do more than entertain for a few minutes for children always register as book borrowers if parents will sign their card. Then they use the library, and a whole new world is dis covered. We have a good selection of books—for all ages—with open, easily browsed shelves. And helpful staff to answer ques tions, suggest book *, help in re serach. Transylvania County Library may borrow books (for a few cents postage) from all over the state. We may also borrow films for a group show ing. Transylvania County Li brary has records—children’s, classical, popular, musical comedies—that may be play ed in the library or taken home. Come look through the titles and see if there is not one to appeal to your taste. Books and records are added throughout the. year at our li brary. We feel this is a better system than some public li braries which only add season ally. There are always new books arriving in Brevard. National Book Week is be ing observed now, but you may use books, “a miracle product" all year long and we would like to see more of you in the Transylvania County Library. Come Join the Read-In >71. The program has been planned for maximum interest, and help to cattlemen. Let Shrubs Work To Hide Any shrubs that do not “fit” into the foundation planting of the home can be used as back ground blinds or hedges to de fine property lines, blot-out un sightly views, screen your yard from your neighbors. In such plantings, include enough ever greens to insure a winter screen as well as a selection of plants that have spring and summer blooms, an autumn foliage dis play, and winter berry color. This will assure good year round interest, as well as sup plying seasonal cut material for use indoors. Good landscape planning is the selection and placement of plants to increase the value, usefulness and beauty of a prop erty.
