Photo in cludes a background of her work with the four blue ribbons (1st place), three red ribbons (2nd place), three white ribbons (3rd place), and one honorable mention, and examples of the differ ent categories in which she won the prizes on the table. The categories include hand formed pieces, draped pieces, and pieces made from molds. A 15-year expert in ceramic art, Mrs. King is a lo cal teacher with more than 25 students in her private classes. Her studio is in her home on Is land Ford Road. The risk of mid-air collisions will be reduced drastically dur ing the seventies through use of communications satellites for air traffic control. Claude Holcombe re turned home Thursday from the Baptist Hospital in Winatoin Salem where she underwent treatment for several days. She is reported to be improving. Mr. and Mrs. Estus Ashe of Tuckaseigee spent Sunday with their »on-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Raleigh Waldrop. Mr. and Mrs. B. E. Keisler have returned home after be ing called to West Columbia, S. C., where the former’s fa ther D. L. Keisler was a pa tient in the Lexington County Hospital. The latter has return ed to his home id Lexington, S. C., and is reported to be im The Rosman Fire Department needs your help! As you know this is a volunteer, non-profit organization, operated solely for the benefit of the community by contributions of interested citizens of the community. The Fire Department is in dire need of a new fire truck. The Ladies Auxiliary of the Rosman Fire Department has several projects going to raise money to purchase such a truck. One of these projects is a Beauty Contest and Variety Show. The men of the Fire Department have volunteered to dress as “Beauties” for this contest. In order to make money for the new truck each “Beauty” is asking that you vote for “her”. The price for each vote is only a penny. The “Beauty” with the most votes will become “Miss Fire Flame” for 1972. Saturday, November 20th, at 7:30 at the Rosman High School has been set for the big event. So come out and support the “Beauty” of your choice and help to buy a new Fire Truck for the Rosman Community. As an added attraction there will be a variety show starring the “Davis Family” of Hiender vUle, “Jim Funderburke’s 3and from Pickens, South Carolina,” and the “Rhythm Kings”. A small admission will be charged at the door. The Ladies Auxiliary will also have a refreshment stand. Mr. and Mrs. Burgle Queen of Plsgah Forest spent Sunday with the former’s brother-in law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Smith. Henry Wells of Bostic was a recent guest at the home of Mrs. W. J. Moore and family. Junior Class At Rosman To Present A Three-Act Comedy BY MRS. AUSTIN HOGSED Members of the junior class at Rosman High School will present a three act play “A Feudin’ Over Yonder” by Le Roma Greth Friday, Novem ber 19th at 8 p.m. in the high school auditorium. The cast is composed of the following 'tudents. Ina Waldrop, Sharon Hogsed, Kathy Wal drop, Craig Crowe, Sammy Cathey, Sheila Jones, Sandra Jones, Wanda Hartnup, Lynn Bullock, Mike Owen,, Chuck Pressley, Kelvin Phillips, Te resa Whitmire, Rhonda Gallo way, and Donnavee Wilson. Others assisting in the pro duction include: Paulette Fish er, Sandra Jones, Deloris Mc Call, Patty Shelton, Kathy Waldrop, and Ann Henderson, make up, Rhonda Galloway, Judy Chapman, Marlyn Chap man, Sammy Cathy, Chuck Pressley, and Sandy McCall, properties; Barbara Galloway, Susie Mahoney, Kathie Henry, and Debbie Snipes, publicity; Mike Dodson, lights and cur tain. P-TA Meet Miss Deborah Landreth’s sixth grade students will pre sent a Thanksgiving play “Mr Thanks Has His Day” Thurs day night at 7:30 at the meet ing of the Rosman P-TA in th< high school auditorium. Banquet The annual Midget. Mite football banquet was held Nov. 9th at the PLgah Fish Camp. Letters and trophies were awarded as follows: Mites - Raymond Fisher, best back; Mike Petit, best line man; Dannv Holder*, most val uable, Mark Baker, sports manship; Midgets - Steve Hen derson, be^t back; James My ers, best lineman; Tim Hender son, most valuable; Guy Mc Call, sportsmanship. The Ros man Mites were awarded the WNC Youth Football Confer ence 1971 Eastern Division sportsmanship trophy. Coaches were Eerlin Owen for the Mites and James Cope for the Midgets. To Speak The Rev. Bryce Parker, pas tor of the Weaverville United Methodist Church, will speak at a Thanksgiving Union Ser vice Nov. 24th at 7 o’clock at the Rosman United Methodist Church. A graduate of Duke Divinity School, he has served various pastorates for approximately 15 years. Participating churches in clude: the Rosman Church oi God. Supper A Thanksgiving covered dish supper will be held Nov. 24 at 6:30 in the basement of Cherryfield Baptist Church. Following the supper, ser vices will be held and the Lord’s Supper will be observ ed. The pastor, the Rev. James Parham, will be in charge. Ba£e Sale Ladies of the Old Toxaway Baptist Church will sponsor a bake sale Saturday morning beginning at 1) o’clock in front of the Country Kitchen. Cakes, pies, cupcakes, can dies and cookies will be sold. Proceeds will be used for Christmas projects at the church. Service An iniation service for mem bers of Paul Hayes Chapter of RA’s of Zion Baptist Church was held Sunday night at the church. El mo Crowe, Counselor, was ir 1 charge of the service. Rescuettes To Have Bake Sale Saturday The Brevard Rescuettes will have a bake sale on Saturday. November 20th, at the new Brevard Plaza Shopping Center. The sale will start at 11:00 o’clock in the morning. “Come on out and buy all kinds of home baked goodies, cakes, candy, cupcakes, etc,” says Mrs. Kate Rowe, the presi dent.
