Lake Toxaway Baptist Church To Have Turkey Supper Saturday By • Mrs. Leo Owen LAKE TOXAWAY — The Lj>ke Toxaway Baptist church will sponsor a turkey supper Saturday, December 4, from 6:00 o’clock ’til 8:00 o’clock p.m. at T.C. Henderson School. Prices are $1.50 for adults and (LOO for children. Take-out plates will be available and pro ceeds will go to the building fund of the church. Rev. Tommy Goldsmith is pastor. The membership of the Lake Toxaway Baptist church takes this opportunity to thank the members of the Lake Toxaway Methodist congregation for the use of their church building during the past 15 months for the purpose of holding their worship services until the new building was completed. Services were held in the new building for the first time Sun day morning, November 28, with a large congregation pres ent. "The' members would also like to express their appreciation to John Nichols for the donation of a new church sign for the Lake Toxaway Baptist church. Mr. and Mrs. Edward John son spent last week as guests of their daughters, Mrs. Gene Ashe and Mrs. Paul Capell and their families in Charlotte. They attended the Baptist State Convention while there, as dele gates from North Toxaway Bap tist church. Mr. and Mrs. Hosea Lee and daughter Kathy were Sunday guests of the former’s nephew, Mr. Elmaine lee and Mrs. lee of Seneca, S. C. Ernest McCoy of Pasadena, California and Mr. and Mrs. Cage McCoy and son of Crusal were recent visitors of the for mer’s brother, Mr. Joe McCoy and family here. Mr. and Mrs. Glen Allen and sons of Rock Hill were weekend guests of Mrs. Allen’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Hall. The Lake Toxaway Commun ity Club will hold its regular meeting Tuesday evening, Dec. 7th, at 6:00 o’clock. Everyone is invited to attend and bring a covered dish supper. Clinton Owen is president. C. this week by The Sears Xoebuck Foundation, a spokes man said today. In the Brevard area, Bre vard College will receive grants totaling $750.00. The North Carolina col leges and universities are among more than 1,000 pri vate, accredited two and four year institutions across the country which are sharing in $14100,000 in Sears Founda tion funds. Nationally, private colleges and universities will receive $1,000,000 in unrestricted grants and an additional $500,000 through a Sears Foundation program to assist college and university libraries. The unrestricted funds may be used as the colleges and universities deem neces sary. The library grant pro gram Is designed to supple ment the normal book acqui sition budgets of the partici pating institutions. In addition to its unrestrict ed and college library grant programs, The Sears Founda tion during the current year will invest slightly more than $500,000 in various student fi nancial aid and other educa tion programs, the spokesman said. This will bring the higher education expenditures of The Sears - Roebuck Foundation to more than $2,000,000 in 1971. “Brevard College is most grateful for this support from the Sears • Roebuck Founds tion,” stated Dr. Robert A. Davis, President of Brevard. “Support from business and industry enables the inde pendent college^ and univer sities to cobwflde their edu cational service to our state and nation.
