Brian McGuire, voice student from Brevard, will sing selec tions from Faure, Ralph Vaughan William, Torelli and Monteverdi, and will- be ac companied by Miss Celia Tolar on the piano. He is a voice stu dent of Harvey H. Miller of the Brevard music faculty. Mr. Mc Guire majored in tuba last year but changed to voice this year, and his plan is to continue his education at Boston University or the University of Miami in Radio Television Broadcasting with a minor in music. Miss Jane Hodge, soprano, from Charlotte, will sing works from Brahms, Lotti, Jourdaln, Bowles, and Menotti She is also a student of Harvey H. Miller, and will be accompanied by Miss Elaine Henderson at the piano. Miss Hodge played the star role of “Guenevere” in the Fine Arts Division production of CAMELOT last spring. She plans to continue her music edu cation at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill or the University of Georgia. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James H. Griffes, an American composer, accompanied by Miss Martha Geoiige at the'piano. Miss Cansdale, daughter of Mr. J, H. Cansdale, of 201 E. 25th St., New York, plans to be a music therapist. The public is invited to at tend the recital without charge. Brevard is a two year liberal arts College related to the United Methodist Church of Western North Carolina. Sanders OAKLAND — A large con gregation assembled Sunday morning at the new Lake Tox away Baptist church for the first service held in the new building. Reverend Tommy Goldsmith is the pastor. Singing service was conduct ed by Mrs. Goldsmith in the absence of Mrs. Dot McNeely who was unfortunately sick at her home and could not attend. Mrs. McNeely is the present pianist. The new Lake Toxaway Bap tist church ladies will sponsor another Turkey supper at the T. C. Henderson school home next Saturday evening, Decem ber 5th, weather permitting. Plates will cost $1.50 for adults and $1.00 for children. Pro ceeds will go on the new church furniture. The ladies hope to make this supper an extra good one. Everybody is invited to attend. Mr. and Mrs. Lionel Owen of Edgefield, South Carolina, were guests Saturday nigm at Mrs. Owens parents, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Norton.
