The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John George Boreman, of Miami, Florida. The groom is the son of Mrs. Farquhard S. Best and the late Mr. Best, of Brevard. Reverend George Booth of ficiated at the ceremony. Mrs. Jean Litwin, organist, presented the wedding mu sic. Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a full length gown of ivory dulcet te satin and re-embroidered Alencon lace. The molded bodice features a wedding band neckline, long tapered sleeves, and a low empire waistline. The skirt is a modi fied A-line lavishly appliqued with laoe and the entire hem line is encircled with a wide band of the same lace. Her long flowing mantilla EAST MAIN ST. Bridesmaids were Miss Claudia Mirchel and Miss Holly Mirchel, both cousins of the bride, Port Washing ton. New York. Their attire was same as the matron of honor. Peter F. Best, brother of the groom, of Asheville, was best man. Ushers were Page H. Best, bridegroom’s brother, of North Kingstown, Rhode Is land: John G. Boreman, Jr., brother of the bride, of Free ville, New' York, and James Williams, brother-in-law of the bride, of Brevard. The mother of the bride wore a full - length gown of embroidered burgandy red batiste with long sleeves. The mother of the groom wore a full - length kelly green chiffon gown with long sleeves. A buffet reception followed immediately after the wed ding ceremony at Evans Farm Inn in McLean, Virginia. The couple plans to reside at Alexandria, Virginia. The bride graduated from Duke University, Durham, and is currently employed as a geologist with the United States Geological Survey in Mis* Williams Initiated By Kappa Delta Pi Miss Peggy L. Williams, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph L. Williams of 42 Turn pike road, Brevard, has been initiated into Kappa Delta Pi, national honor society in edu cation, at Western Carolina University. Mu Eta Chapter of Kappa Delta Pi was installed at WCU May 1, 1969. The so ciety is open to both under graduate and graduate stu dents in education. To be eligible for membership, a student must rank scholasti cally in the top 20 per cent of the student body, have a quality point ratio of 3.00 or better, exhibit commendable personal qualities and intend to make education a lifetime profession. The society endeavors to maintain a high degree of professional fellowship among its members and to quicken professional growth by honor ing achievement in educa tional work. Miss Williams is a junior and is majoring in Spanish education. She is vice presi dent of Delta Zeta sorority and past president of tbe Spanish Club. A dean’s list student, she is a member of Panhellenic Council. Hog Costs Up The cost of producing hogs in North Carolina increased from $14.24 per hundred pounds in 1961 to $15.87 in 1971, ac cording to estimates by North Carolina State University exten sion economists. The largest single increase was for variable costs other than feed. These include items such as repairs, supplies, medication and truck operation expenses. Prices Similar It hasn’t been long since there was rank discrimination on the part of beef buyers against crossbred cattle. This must be changing. In the 1971 North Carolina fall feeder calf sales* purebreds sold for an average of $34.82 per hundred weight and crossbreds for only a fraction less at $34.16 per hundred - weight. AAUW Will Hear Taylor “North Carolina’s Tax Pay ers Money and How It Is Spent” will be the subject discussed by Representative Charles Taylor before the Brevard Branch of the Ameri can Association of University Women at its next meeting this Tuesday. The December 14th meeting will be held at 8:00 p.m. in the Brevard Col lege Faculty Lounge. Miss Mary Scott, chairman of the topic: “A Dollar’s Worth” emphasizes the fact that this topic will be the con cern of many citizens and urges attendance by all inter ested persons.
