Mrs. Wilkie Announces As A GOP Candidate In District ■ (Ceatteaed from Page Tea) vale of Hendersonville High School, studied art at the Asheville Art Museum and is A past officer in the Hender son County Ait League. ■ She is past president of Jletcher School P-TA, and is presently President of the Henderson County P-TA Coun cil. She is active In the Hen derson County Community De velopment work where she has held several offices including membership on the Western North Carolina Steering Com mittee. She has taken her own community to District Compe tition four successive years and has won awards each time. Mrs. Wilkie is a member of the Oak Forest Baptist Church, active in Scouting in her com munity, and is on the Board of Directors the UFBDA, and is presently holding an office in the Hoopers Creek Home Ex tension. She has two children, Stephan, age 17, a student at West Henderson High School, and Rebecca, age 9, of Fletcher Elementary School. Mrs. Wilkie’s campaign will be composed of a Committee of 10 in each county throughout the district. Mrs. Florence Skidd and Mrs. Ida Gallo way of Etowah will be cam paign co-ordinators for the 27th district Mrs. Lewis Hod ell of Polk County, Chairman of the Republican Women's Club, will head up that county's com mittee. Last Rites Held For Mrs. Farris i Mrs. Sarah Owens Farris, age 79, of Brevard died last Wednesday evening in Brough ton Hospital, following a long illness. Mrs. Farris was. a mem ber of the Church of God. Survivors include the hus band Charles Farris; two daugh ters, Mrs. Ruth McJunUn, of Statesville, and Mrs. Rosalee Linville, of Belmont; one son, James Robert Owens, of Green wood, S. C.; 13 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two brothers, Alfred Coggins, of Tuxedo, and Claude Coggins of Zirconia; and one sister, Mrs. Lillie Pace of Saluda. Funeral Services were held ! Saturday in the Chapel of the j Frank Moody Funeral Horn*. Burial followed in Pisgah Oar dens cemetery.
