If the family Bible was written in ink, long ago and have never been erased, traced, or written over it will probably be satisfactory evi dence. Q. I was told that I would get Social Security credit for each month of my military services from 1941 to 1944 of $160 per month. However, I sent a post card for a record of my Social Security earnings and found my military time wasn’t listed. Why was it left out? A. Military service is net actually credited to your record until you apply for Social Security benefits. When you apply, you will be asked for your discharge papers or other proof of mili tary service. The people at the Social Security office will see that you get. your military service credits then. Q. I never worked under So cial Security but I get monthly Social Security checks as a widow of my husband’s ac count. Will I be eligible to Medicare when I am 65? A. Yes, you are eligible for Medicare at 65. Anyone who is entitled to Social Security retirement checks at 65 is also eligible for Medicare. He succeeds the Rev. Charles Millard who was recently trans ferred to the Church of God in Clyde. A native of Statesville, he graduated from the Statesville city school. Following his grad uation, he was in evangelistical work and was licensed to preach in 1969. He has served as pastor of the Popular Springs Church of God, Route 2, Statesville for the past two years. Mrs. Parker is the former Miss Virginia Moore, also a Statesville native. The Parkers have a daughter, Patty, who is a senior in the Statesville City School and a son, Carrol Ray, who is married and lives in Statesville. Zion Church News The Tonesmen Quartet of Swannanoa will sing at the 11:00 o’clock service Sunday at Zion Baptist church. A baptismal service will also be held at the conclusion of the morning service. The Rev. J. K. Pressley has announced that his sermons will be centered on Jesus and His ministry prior to Easter. Fol lowing Easter, the sermons will be centered on the church. Mr. and Mrs. Wallace McCall showed slides of areas of mis sion work to the RA’s and othei mission groups Sunday night. The Acteens of Zion Church presented a TYL (Thank You Ladies) program Feb. 14 at the church. Honored guests were members of the WMU, Acteen leaders, and mothers of the Acteens. Corsages were pre sented to the guests. Following a short program, a spaghetti supper was served with the dessert depicting the Valentine motif. Acteen leaders are Mrs. Terry Norton and Mrs. Gaynell Powell. Birth Announced Pvt. Gary Fisher and Mrs. Fisher announce the birth of a daughter, Delaina Dawn, Jan. 22 in Transylvania Community Hospital. Mrs. Fisher is the former Miss Beverly Hayes of Scranton, Pa. Pvt. Fisher spent the weekend here with his wife and daughter at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Fisher. They left on Monday for Camp Lejeune where they will reside.
