The Decemer schedule is as follows: Area 3: Dec. 17th - 21st Area 4: Dec. 26th • 31st Jehovah’s Witnesses To Cancel Weekend Meetings Due to the semi-annual as sembly of Jehovah’s Witnesses scheduled for this weekend, De cember 22nd, 23rd, in Green ville, S. C., local weekend meet ings at the Kingdom Halls have been canceled for this week. According to Roger D. Gal loway, resident minister, the Bible training gathering will be conducted at the Greenville Memorial Auditorium, Green ville, S. C. “The Greenville assembly is an extension of our regular weekly meetings on an enlarged scale,” Mr. Galloway said. “Five congregational meetings are conducted each week at the lo cal Kingdom Hall," he said, because we take very seriously the Bible command to meet to gether regularly.” Upwards of 2,000 delegates from the tri-state area of North and South Carolina and Georgia are expected to attend. Includ ed on the program will be a model ministry school which serves as an example for the congregations to follow. This school is conducted in the more than 2,700 congregations of Je hovah’s Witnesses throughout the world. “Act Wisely As The End Draws Near” will be the subject under discussion for the main public address on Sunday at 2 p. m. Commenting on the address, Mr. Galloway said Jehovah’s Wtnesses are convinced the end is drawing near. “Prophecy proves that this system of things is nearing its end,” Galloway said. “It also proves a new or der of God’s making will be here in this generation,” he said. McGuire, Jr., of Brevard, has been appointed to serve as co-ordinator for this area for the 51st Annual South ern Educational Congress of Op tometry, February 15-19 at the Marriott Motor Hotel in Atlanta. In this capacity the local op tometrist will serve as an advi sor and as liason with the Southern Council of Optome trists, sponsor of the event which is expected to attract some 3,000 registrations from 40-odd States. The program will feature some 114 hours of lectures, on such topics as contact lenses, children’s vision, and ocular pathology. The Congress will al so include some 190 exhibits. Mrs. Elliott Dies, Rites Held In Fla Mrs. Anna Dell Barker Elli ott, age 63, a former resident of Brevard and Bosnian, died Thursday, December 13th, in Zephyrhills, Florida. Surviving are the husband, Avery Elliott, a retired em ployee of Olin Corporation; one brother, William Barker of Jef ferson; one son, John Elliott, Lakeland, Florida; five daugh ters, Mrs. Frank Knufkee, Miil erton, N.
