SMITH (From the Spindale-Alexander Church Visitor). It would be next to impossible to give all the good reasons why one should attend Sunday school regular ly. Were it not for the fact that we "know them all the time and forget them every minute," it would seem absurd to set forth even a part of them at this time. Since so many are forgetting this sacred duty and high privilege, I am listing below some of the reasons why one should discharge this obligation. First, for Human Fellowship. God has made us social beings. It is perfectly natural and highly profit able that we should mingle together. Most of the friction in the world is due to lack of understanding one of the other. If we would know the true worth of our fellows, we must meet with them, get their point of view, and see them as they really are. If we would be known at our highest and best selves, we must give our fel lows an opportunity to know us inti- RUPTURE EXPERT HERE F. H. Seeley, of Chicago and Phila delphia, the noted truss expert, will personally be at the Battery Park Hotel, and will remain in Asheville Tuesday only, Feb. 10. Mr. Seeley says: "The Spermatic Shield will not only retain any case of rupture perfectly, but contracts the opening in 10 days on the average case. Be ing a vast advancement over all for mer methods—exemplifying instan taneous effects immediately appre ciable and withstanding any strain or position no matter the size or loca tion. Large or difficult cases, or In cissional ruptures (following opera tions) specially solicited. This in strument received the only award in England and in Spain, producing re sults without surgery, injections, medical treatment or prescriptions. Warning—All cases should b-; cau tioned against the use of any elastic or web truss with understraps, as same rest where the lump is and not where the opening is, producing com plications necessitating surgical oper ations. Mr. Seeley has documents from the United States Government, Washington, D. C., for inspection. He will be glad to demonstrate without charge or fit them if desired. Busi ness demands prevent stopping at any other place in this section. P. S.—Every statement in this no tice has been verified before the Fed eral and State Courts.—F. H. Seeley. Home Office 117 N. Dearborn St., Chicago. mately. No more wholesome associa tion is afforded than that found in a Sundlay school class. Second, to Study God's Word. The Bible contains beautiful books of literature, entrancing stories of history, inspiring biographies of men, but above all it is God's Word. Amos ' says, "He revealeth His secrets unto ; His servants, the prophets." David, a man after God's own heart, a hero, , a poet, a great king, found it indis i pensible in *his life. He spoke to j God, saying, "Thy Word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my i path." What a privilege to join with i others in a study of the things God has revealed through those whom He I has inspired to write! Third, to find God and Salvatioii» "And the Word was hlade flesh, and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth." "No man hath seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, He hath declared Him." In speaking of Jesus, Paul proclaimed in the most emphatic manner, "Neither is there salvation in any other;- for there is none other name under Heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved." On another occasion Paul stated his high estimate of that which we have placed before us from Sun day to SuncSay when he exclaimed, "I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ; for it is the power of God into salvation to every one that be lieveth." We could all know God better by attending Sunday school. To know Him aright is life everlast ing. Fourth, to Ascertain God's Will in Our LiveG. To every one seeking to find hi place in the world, even to follow God's plan in his life, this precious promise is held out: "If any man willeth to do His will, he shall know of the doctrine." Paul has summed up the points of helpfulness of the Bible to us when he says: "All scrip ture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for re proof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness; that the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished; in all good works." We will find by attending Sunday school that man was created in God's image, that he has marred that image by the scars of sin, and that God has so loved him that He has provided for the re-fash ioning of that imag'i through the per fect model, Jesus Christ, and that He has hor man by making him a co-labortr with r/.vi in extending His Kingdom in the world. What an honor! Fifth, to Prepare for the Society of Heaven. "As we live here, we will live for ever." If by some chance of grace we were saved, how unaccustomed some of us would be to spiritual things! Life does not end here; growth does not stop here. Every one who gets to Heaven will be happy, but those who have sacrified most endured most, loved most while they lived on the earth, will be the hap piest. God saves unto the uttermost, but to me it is a question whether He can save one who is willing to live ignorantly and unthinkingly of Him. John says, "And this is the condemnation, that light is come in to the wo-rld, and men loved dark ness rather than light, because their deeds were evil." Man was created for companionship with God. Abra ham was called the friend of God; Enoch walked with God and waa not; David was a man after God's own heart. There are plains where God walks, that our feet may tread up on. You will find the Sunday school along the pathway that leads to them. "Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be; but we know that, when He shall appear, we shall be like Him; for we ghall see Him as He is. And! every man that hath this hope in Him purifieth himself, even as He is pure." TWO 300KS There was a pupil had two books, And these two books were trouble For neither one alone would work And lessons seemed to double. A lovely lass espied the books Upon their homely owner Now for assignments every night He seems to want to phon'er. Alas, the time did come around When he did call upon'er To study books together For they surely were his joner There is a student has two books These two books are conjunctions They brought together him and her A most peculiar function.
