CLOD Vl-rcnsly 0;;c::3 Frc;::IH:a Fcr AKomtar Of Reasons; .Which He Gives v When asked today, for his opinion regarding the proposed scheme - of moving the; country club to .Myers Park, Mr. H. M. Victor, setting forth his views? as one of ' those most vig orously opposing the h proposition, 'said: ' as a memoer or,f tne- ciuo, 1 am decidedly opposed to it' . I regret to see any discussion T of this subject in the papers as in any .event I am afraid the chib will be hurt by it, and I think it very ill advised' by the parties who are advocating it to give ' so much publicity : to' the : :.u movement. ! The Chronicle has said that no proposition has been made and yet ventures the prediction that while there may be some opposition, it . is - regarded as highly probable that the advocates tor removal will prevail. .This statement appears to me to be exceedingly pre mature. The intelligence of the mem bership Is such' that any definite pre diction as to how it should vote on a proposition of this ' kind is unrea sonable to' say the least, certainly re garding members who are not inter ested - financially in Investments In either locality. -' '-'' "Personally, I have in course of construction a home near the country club and am . influenced hy "that to oppose any move, but outside of that I will oppose it. The club has select ed its own home after careful efforts to., pick the best , place. It has a beautiful, club . house, .and grounds; the links are well situated and ahow the? results t of two years work . on them. ' The location is admirable:, off the ; main highway, surrounded by woods where jone - can ; drive a golf ball to his heart's content , or . per chance to its discontent ' and in the latter event, he .won't have to lower his voice on account of the proximity of the Presbyterian College for Worn- en. ' -. ' , - - - .' - v "Then again I am opposed to onr commercialising ourselves. . We are a social organization and this seems to me to be a , bid to more from , our home to another locality to aid a real estate proposition. I say, stay' where we are, improve our own property to suit our own needs. If the olob had not already been formed and located or was .looking for a site . upon which to ;establish .itserta. propositilodf might be in j order, " but we have our:hoine and all' we need Is"a street our servioe and a good roadway. ; , The latter was contracted for some time, ago and I understand the - street ear. ' line- is promised. "The further suggestion' has been made that the present site , is not so acceptable as an up-to-date and fash ionable club-suburb- on account of its environments. PersonaHy,"' -I differ on that point,' for I see no objection to the neighborhood, but waiving that I Insist that the club as a club is not interested in any suburb, fashionable or otherwise. ... . . w" ' .. "I wish the subject had been kept out of the papers until decided by a vote lof the membera " I am not' in ' a positioh to make any prediction, as to how the stockholders, will vote, but I certainly hope the disinterested mem bers will - get together and see 1 that the - proposition is defeated and - the club remain where it is, where It was Intended to be from the beginning and where Its members expected it to re main permanently when they joined ft.-. . , ' ; ATTRACTIVE ROUND TRIP RATES VIA SOUTHERN KAILWAY. 16.80 Charlotte, N. : C, to Charles ton, S.
