Rapid barometric ehanges have oc curred during the past 24 hours. 'The upper Mississippi valley "low" has mov ed eastward to the lower St. Lawrence valley, attended by very light rains from ibe Ohio valley southeastward td tho Virginia and Carolina coast, and light snow in the upper Lake region. Elsewhere there has been no precipita tion of consequence. This "low" has been followed by the Plateau "hjgh", which is now centered over the middle Plains states and has caused colder weather west of a line drawn from Lake Huron to eastern Texas, the lowest reported temperature being 2 below zero at Huron, S. Dak. The weather has warmed, up somewhat to the east or mis line, except the Florida peninsula. Temperatures are be; gjnnjng to rise in northern Montana, incident to the approach of: a "Iqw" north o that state. Y., has been elected mayor of St. Peters burg, Fla., to fill the unexpired term of Noel A. Mitchell, recalled from that office. Pulver's entry into the fight for election was spectacular. He was in the Alaskan woods when Mitchell was recalled.
