(Greensboro News.) Manager "Red"' Owens, of the locai baseball club, arrived in the city ves terday morning from his home in Har nsburg, Pa., and will be here! until the season opens on April 23. though he will gpend part of his time at Guilford College with Charlie Doak warming up and getting- into condition. Owens says that with the exception of two pitchers whom he expects to sign in the next lew days, he has all of his team sign- ea. uiey win Degin to report for prac tice the last week in this month. "Red'' has recently signed Norman Harney, a pitcher, from Boundbrook, N. J., from whom he expects good work. Harney comes to this club well recommended by Wiltse, of the New York Giants. He is a right-hander, and is about 22 years of age. For the past several years he has made fine records with semi-professional teams in New Jersey and is said to have plenty of curves and equally as much speed. Cloy d (''Bane") Wilson, a southpaw, has also put his name to a Greensboro contract. Wilson, who hails from Ely. Nev., has played semi-professional bali with teams in the West for several years, and lie is said to have the "stuff."' Ho stands 5 feet 9 metres in height: is about 22 years of ago. and i weighs 100 pounds. He is the only southpaw yet signed bv the local club. Owing to the bad weather for the! past several days the work at Cone park has not made much headway, though this morning at 7 o'clock work men will resume their work on cutting away the diamond and making other fixtures about the park. Witbing three days, if the weather continues good, the diamond will be ready for use. and if the iutentions of the club owners are carried out Greensboro will have a bal! field equal to that of any other town m the circuit. i WHIT ESOX By Associated Press. ; New York, March 4. The $45.00 for the pay of the cen tral girls lost two weeks ago was found Saturday night by little James Edwards in a trash barrel in the rear of the manufacturers' building. It is supposed that Henry Swink put the money, wrhich was in an envelope, on the window sill and that the wind blew it to the street and from there it found its way to the trash barrel, where. it lay for a week before being found. A reward of $5 was paid young Edwards. TIZ" FBI ACHING, SORE. TIRED FEET Much interest is being manifested in the forthcoming presentation of "Stop Thief," a new Cohan & Harris produc tion to be seen at the Academy of Music next Monday matinee and night. "Stop Thief;' is a farce in three acts from the pen of Carlyle Moore. The plot of the piece deals with klepto maniac is defined by Webster as a wealthy person of extraordinary ab sent-minded tendencies and morbid impulses. The mania usually demon strates its presence by-the victim of it being discovered in making a col lection of valuable articles that do not belong to him. When the poor man is caught doing the same thing, he is arrested as an ordinary thief.. That is a detail, however. There are two kleptomaniacs and a real crook in "Stop Thief." One of the kleptomaniacs is a millionaire and the other is his prospective son-in-law. The bride-to-be knows that' her father is afflicted with the mania to. steal, but she is ignorant of the fact that her future husband is also. Into thishousehold a real thief is smuggled by a new maid, and the plot thus' tangled in the first act calls for the presence Of a batallion of police men who appear in the second act, w-here the thrills begin. One valuable article after another disappears in the most mysterious manner, and in the search of the culprits many funny sit uations are evolved. The original New- York company which kept New Yorkers laughing for over a year will present this wonder ful farce of laughs and thrills in this city. 700 Mrs. E. Buckner, Alexander, N.
