C. The information has not been given out officially a5 yet but it is : understood that the order is al ready made that the event will be : staged at Greenville. The last bien nial encampment and manoeuvers ot , the kind took place at Anniston, Ala., in 191-. and for several years prior ; io that, at Chickamauga. Tenn. It :s likely that troops will be there from North and South Carolina, Georgia. Alabama, Tennessee and , mavba from Virginia, One regiment ,a lusua'iy designated from each state, although more than one regi ment may go. It is usually the cus-. torn not to have the whole force in jcamp at one time, but to so aivange j It that several regiments will be en-j camped in succession to each other; Jon the field. The object of the en-j campment nnd manoeuvers 'a to tiring the militia in contact with the regular and put them through ex ercises and manoeuvers as near ns Possible under circumstances that would prevail in case of war. Officer of the regular line are always pres ent to direct the operations of the troops and to instruct the militia m She routine of camo life, the hand ling of arms, etc. The manoeuvers are considered to be of the greatest 'advantage to the raw troops. While it is not known just what dtatea will be represented at Jie en campment, it is likely that the -nates named above will be represented. The encampment will probably last two months and will likely take place in the months of July and An-, gust. There will be probably from ; 7,000 to 10,00 troops in camp at the . .same time. The regular troops at the encampment will be probably from Fort Oglethorpe, Fort McPherson ind other Southern army pests. 200 COMMERCIAL BANK BLDG.
