A ter. rible gas explosion occurred at;New Cumberland, West Va., Tuesday even ing, and eight men,' and two children were tembly burned. A large stable neafthe spot in which were a number of buggies was torn to pieces and the vehicles destroyed. 'The Governor's Guards, of Raleigh; N. C. filed up and stacked their arms. Their appearance was unusually at- buried there at public expense and by tractive, as tfteir- uniform was hand- order of tne Cemetevy Committee. qome without being gaudy, lheir dark blue trousers had broad white stripes, and the frock coats, of the arne shade of blue, were well set off by gilt bands across the chest and gilt for a number and section of plats, of the Queen. She is a little slight and bent. She had to be help into the carriage by the two gillies alter the Qoeen had taken her seat. She looked so feeble that it seemed as if a breath of wind might blow her away. The two-gillies were men over fifty years of age. ; The coachman was a grave, smooth-faced man, over sixty. Only the postilions and the outriders were young ;nen. They had a nervous, cared look, and turned white every time the Queen turned her face in their direction. That was a noticeable fea ture to be observed in all those about her. They all appeared nervous. The messenger that came in ahead of her was pale to his lips with anxiety. The postilions when they drove the carriage down through the stable kept turning their heads every instant lor some re proving signal. When they went away there was the same anxiety. Sir Henry Ponsonby, her secretary, who was with her on this occasion, is an old man. He was the least nervous of all her per sonal staff. .He Is a tall, .slim, fussy looking old man. He was dressed jn a black frock suit, with a black stock coming up around a very high collar. His face is ' a miniature edition of Kaiser Wilhelnv. His mustache and Train morixg north. That- no burial - plat in Giecne Hill Cemetery shall hereafter be sold to any one but a bona fide citizen and resident of the city of Greensboro and no plat shall be sold to any one. a citizen of Greensboro, for the .use of families or persons living -outside of the City limits.
