PAGE TWO Dutch Supper Brings Golf Tournament To A Very Successful Close A most successful golf tournament at West End Country Club was brougtfit to a close last evening at a Dutch Supper at the club house at which prizes for the various honors attained by golfers during: the tour nament wort; a wanted. C. O. Seifert, president of the golf club, presided as toastmaster during the evening. C. E. Greene gave the invocation. Following the supper, the prizes were presented to the winners. Low medal qualifying prize, a silver gob let, was presented to Turner Wortham by Mr. Soifert, and John N. Mitchell, winner in the fourth flight, presented C. E. Green, runner-up a smoking stand, and Mr. Green, in turn, pre sented Mitchell a silver goblet as prize for this flight’s honor. George Harrison presented Bob Falkner, runner-up in third flight, a smoking set, and Falkner presented Harrison a silver goblet for top hon ors in this flight. Ray Goodrich pre sented Harry Bryan a dress shirt set for consolation honors in third flight. Mr. Seifert presented .T. C. Cooper, Sr., a combination pencil-lighter for consolation honors in the second flight, and C. L. Finch presented the runner-up prize, a cocktail set. to J. W. Jenkins, Sr., and Mr. Jenkins pre sented Mr. Finch a silver loving cup for winning second flight honors. E. F. Shaw presented J. C. Cooper, Jr., a cocktail shaker for consolation honors in the first flight, and J. H. Brodie gave Turner Wortham a silver goblet for runner-up honors in the first flight. Wortham then present ed a beautiful loving cup to J. H. Brodie symbolic o fthe charr'pionship of the club for the next year. Welcome Awaits Him K Tony Manero, National Open Golf Champion, who is to be honored by a huge celebration on his return to his Lome Sedgcfield Club, Greensboro, on July 1. Admirers of the champion will have the opportunity of seeing him in action in an exhibition match over the Sedgefield course at. 2:30 o'clock the afternoon of July 1. WELDON BULLOCK TO GET OLYMPIC TRIAL Weldon Bullock, Creedmoor’s strong man, won out over weight lifters in New York June 14, and will sail for the Olympics in Germany July 14 if he wins final tests in Philadelphia July 4. May 10 in his first contest of the series in Cincinnati, he won first place by lifting from the ground 200 pounds and was awarded the 1936 championship medal. By lifting 319 pounds in the N. Y. trial of strength he won first place again. In three lifts he made the second highest rec- ord ever made for Olympic contests in this country. He has a good reserve of lifting strength for the final con test in Philadelphia July 4 and feels his chances are good for the Olym pics in Berlin. Biown was on the mound for the losers, and was touched heavily, most of the damage being done in the sixth I inning of the abbreviated game. Acrey led the Cheerios at bat with two doubles.
