Jackson Hurls No-Hitter As Highs Defeat Dabney Bulldog Hurler Fans Six; One Reaches First on Error; Locals Pound Two Visiting Hurlers for 20 Safeties; Coghill Gets Homer With Three on Hassocks By SEYMOUR mYOKSKY Yesterday the Bulldogs trimmed Dabney in a seven inning game at League Park, the final score being 26 to 0. Jackson went out on the mound, and entered the hall of fame, by pitch ing a. no hit, no run game. The only man that managed to reach first was Hunt who was errored there in the first of the seventh. The game was an exciting one from the time that the first ball left Jackson’s hand until the last one was hurled over the plate. The leading batters were Edwards, Stewart, and Calloway, while Coghill knocked a homer in the fifth, with.the bases full, Coghill also made a beau tiful catch in left field, and certainly deserves ample credit for this catch. When the Bulldogs came up to bat It looked more like a track meet with them running around the bases, and until Dabney could manage to get three men out I thought that the crowd would go mad. Jackson not only didn’t allow any hits but he struck out six men and didn’t walk any. They did not seem to hamper George Wash ington any. By the same token we cannot get steamed over a vision of Benjamin Franklin in a tuxedo or Thomas Jef ferson in a natty pair of Scotch tweed plus fours. HENDERSON, (N. C.) NEW RULING GIVEN ON COMPENSATION Two Corporations, Though Separate, Considered One if Under Joint, Control Dally Dhpatch Bareaa, In Ike Sir Walter Hotel. 11 y .1. d liASKniUTIiI, Raleigh, May 5. —Two employing units, corporations, partnerships, in dividuals, or other kinds, which are controlled by the '■ome interests, are counted as one employing unit for the purpose of determining whether or not they have a sufficient number of employees to bring them under the provisions of the N. C. Unemployment Compensation Act, an interpretation by the Unemployment Compensation Commission holds. General Counsel Adrian J. Newton, in making the interpretation, cites Section 19 (f) (4) of the act, which reads as follows: “Any employing unit which together with one cr more other employing units, is owned or controlled (by , legally enforcible means or otherwise) directly or indi rectly by the same interests, or which owns or controls one or more other employing units (by legally enforce able means or otherwise), and which, if treated as a single unit with such other employing units, would be an employer under paragraph (1) of this subsection.” In the interpretation two corpora tions are used, one of which owns and controls the other by majority stock ownership. It is pointed out that if neither of them employed as many as eight workers, or if one did and the other did not, but if together they em ployed as many as eight workers, than both would be subject to the provisions of the UpeippJoyment Com pensation Act, and required * 0 +I f a . y contributions on the, wages of their employes just as if both had a suf ficient number to bring them under the act. 1 BULLS MEET IK First Game Under Lights This Season for Piedmont in Durham Tomorrow Durham, May s—The cry of “let there be lights,” sounded by the fol lowers of the Durham Bulls, will be answered Thursday night, May 8, when President Paul Florence will turn on the powerful mazdas at the local ball park for the opening game of the series with the Winston-Salem Twins.
