Fine assortment of crockery and glass ware at H. THOMASON'S. Fair at Bobbitt School. Contributed. On Friday evening, Feb. 23rd, quite a large company gathered from the sur rounding country to attend the Fair at Bobbitt School. As ou-i entered the '"Gate" they became aware of the fact that everybody had taken a day off in which to be jolly, and well they might for on the '"Midway"' was music by a fine string band; and to the left as you entered was a beautiful Indian tent, in front of which stood a tall young prin cess, gay with red fringes and beads, ready to sell come-back balls, horns and squednncs much to the delight of the small boys, who at once proceeded to make all the noise they could. Next was a Lunch Counter with everything to tempt the innerman. Also that "wonder ful pie" which was served with strings as '"pie' so often is nowadays. The for tune teller's booth was very popular, but there were cosy corners everywhere, with seats '"just built for two" mostly occupied by swains with their lassies who to all appearances were making for tunes for themselves. Farther up the Pike was a booth with a dancing bear who did all sorts of stunts, much to the amusement and delight of everybody. Then there was a magic lantern show with pictures new and old some taken before the flood to the showman said. But the negro minstrels were a constant delight. Their booth was always sur rounded by a crowd as they sang, "Ev erybody w-orks but Father" and "Han na won't you open the door?" and lots of other negro melodies. When all tha stunts were over and the barkers with megaphones had "barked" themselves hoarse the princesscame along scattering confetti over everybody. All said it had lacked only this to complete the illusion of a real Fair, and all agreed it was the gayest, noisiest, rolickingest Fair they had ever attended. With all the fun and frolic we take great pride in adding that there was not a smell of spirits or cfgarettes during the whole evening. Dangers of Pneumonia.
