The Hustler has a few things that might interest the readers of The Democrat. The editor was in town to see what had become of his G. F. correspondent, A proud new boy and a lot of work keeping house, etc., was enough to sati; - 1 fy him that I hadn't time to write. - Work is being pushed right along on the bank building, and it won't be long until we'll have a bank in this city. A cotton mill seems to be in siirht. It is to be a $75,000 mill. That will help out our little place considerably. The brick work is completed on G. S. Lanier's store. Starnes & Bowman have mov ed into their new store. ' 1 Dr. G. E. Flowers has a ce 'tiientr hollow block machine. He will proceed to make blocks to build a store. Mr. Horace-Ruaceil he iwved into his new house. Mr. Shuford Allred is moving to Morganton where he has_a position in the Morganton mill. He is a good man artdwe are sorry to loose him frojn our com munity, but glad to recommend him. Mr. Lark Coffey has a posi tion as spinning boss at Rhod hiss. The Granite Falls Graded School opened last Monday with .Prof. White principal, and Miss Little assistant. A large crowd was at the depot to meet her. Miss Ballard is to teach music. The new depot is progressing slowly, but we will have a new depot some time. Mr. Will Whisnant has gone to Lenoir where he will proceed tp practice law with Edmund Jones. He is a nice young man and we ,wish him success. Henry Enas and Misk Ida Fish er were married last week. Miss Fisher's uncle, Mark Fisher, seemed to be very much dis pleased about the match and was about to smash Enas into "smitherines" but changed his notion when he overtook Enas, after following him half a mile up street. There are some other matrimo nial prospects around and a wed ding any - time would not sur prise us. Prof. A. C. Sherrill is teach ing at Lowesville. i . Torture By Savages.
