Bagby has re turned to the city and accepted a position in the law offices of Mr. W. A. Self. Mr. George Lyerly returned Sunday to the A. & M. College at Raleigh. He will get his sheep skin this spring. Miss Lucile Shuford attended the wedding at Lsxington of Mr. Frank Thomas Cooper and Miss Mattßheinhart. A large part to the t'un of stay ing out all night is lost if you are a bachelor, so that it doesn't make any difference. Mr. Frank Harris,- who has been a student at Lenoir College for some time, his returned to to his home in Concord. Mr. and Mrs. CarlL. Matheson' spent Sunday here with Mrs- Matherson's sisters Mrs. Cooper and Mrs. Dr. Stevenson Mr. George Rine of Lexington, who has been in school at Lenoir College, has returned home to accept a very nice position. College this year. Mr. R. L. Stinson one of Mecklenburg county's good old Democrats, ftas moved to Hick ory and located in Long View. We extend a welcome to Mr. Stinson and his family to ouri city. What has become of the panic? It has left Hickorv anyway. Most all of the manufacturing plants of the citv are again mak ing full time and working the usual number of employees. Between nine and ten o'clotl last Thursday night, the barn and its contents of Mr. J. D Pope were destroyed by fire The farm is about four miles 'from the city, and ;• -ne spent a great deal of his time on the farm; however always returning to his home in the city at night. Mr/ Huffman, a young man was employed to look afterthe-stock; I but slept at home, so there was no one there at the time of the fire. Yet the stock was turned out, which would not have been the case if the barn had not been fired purposely. The officials are working hard on the case, but as yet have discovered no clue that will lead to the capture of the villian.
