Mrs. Bailey Entertains The Thursday Study Club was en itertjifcned, yieslVrdayc afjternoon. by Mrs. George Bailey. " Every mem ber was present and Mrs. Georsre Yoder, a guest. Roll call was ans wered by quotations from Words worth. iMrs. J. Worth Elliott erave the first reading, The Yorkshire Coast," Mrs. C. C. Bost followed with PntVnJ.nl" , A TT..1 J. ivfiac vjainciuai aim mid. liUUclU Lyerly read ''Henry III." After the literary program Mrs. E. A. Smith, accompanied by Mrs. George Bisa nar, chamingly sang two solos, and Mrs. A. M. West played two piano selections. The guests were then seated at small tables and the par cel post man arrived bringing a package for Mrs. J. D. Harte, which proved to be a miscellaneous shower which the club gave for Mrs. Harte who leaves this month for her new home in Oxford. The following lines, writtetoi for Mrs. Harte by Mrs. Bost was inclosed in the package: To Mrs. Harte 'Twas eight short years ago, dear friend, I'm sure you will remember The Thursday Study Club began "'Twas in the mild September." "Norway and Sweden" claimed us first, And "'Holland" followed after, The quaint and curious customs there Oft moved the club to laughter. In "India" next our lot was castT Then "Famous Women" charmed us, Next ''Ireland" with her merry men, But naught we bound there 'larmed us. To "Switzerland" our minds then turned And, revelling in her beauty, We joyed to give the readings when, Our pleasure linked with duty. In "Egypt" next two years were spent With mummies all around us. This year, in England o'er the sea Is where kind fate has found us, No aeroplane or submarine, (Both interesting strangers) Has borne us to that far off land Mid air or ocean dangers. Imagination is the power That brings its beauties near us Alas! henceforth we'll have no Harte With kindly voice to cheer us, And that each separate name and face In Oxford you'll remember, Well with our names with hearts as true In May as in December We'll miss you every time we meet You came with love bespoken, These pleasant ties are only loosed, They never can be broken. No. matter when, no matter where, In any sort of weather, We hope kind fate will sometime bring The club once more together. A delicious salad course was serv ed by the hostess after the guest of hortor and opened all her packages Mrs. A. M. West will have the next meeting. ENJOYABLE RECEPTION FOR MR. AN MRS.
