IV' - GOVERNOR BICKETT DAVENPORT COLLEGE (By Dr. N. B. Cook). . It has has been said by the late Dr.! S. Weir Mitchell, in his book, entitled! "Wear and Tear, or Hints for the Over-' worked,'' "that multitudes of ouri young girls are merely pretty to look at, or not that; that their destiny is; the shawl and the soft, neuralgia,1 weak backs, and varied forms of hys teria, that domestic demon which has produced untold discomfort in many a household, and, I am almost1 ready to say,-as much unhappiness as the husband's dram." Iiowr is it best to maintain the health of the young girl just growing into womanhood, or to prepare for the young mother for the advent of a i;ew member in the household ? In t;;e first place, girls as a rule do not get enough iresn air, and should be taught to take vigorous exercise daily in the outdoor air. They should take I a cold shower or a tepid bath every I day to keep the pores of the skin op en, so that their skin will bre&th as I well as their lungs, and sleep well j co ered up in bed with the windows 1 open, winter and summer. To build up and invigorate their ; womanly organs, I know of nothing better than that old tried remedy ! made up of roots which the first Am I eric'ans used yearss before our race in- habited this country extracted from ! L,ady Slipper root, Cohosh and Uni corn root, witn glycerine. it was .irst introduced in ready to use form by Dr. Pierce nearly fifty years ago, and has since been sold in larger quantities every year all over the United States. It is known as Doc tor Pierce's Favorite Prescription and can be obtained at almost all drug stores. If the tablets are not obtainable at the nearest store you can easily obtain them through the mail by sending $1.00 to the Invalid's Hotel, Buffalo, N. Y., and you can get free medical advice as well from a specialist by addressing Doctor Pierce. adv ENtv - ' C A' I Franfis Y p.. .1 RE WANTS FURNISHED HOUSE FOR RENT Five rooms, bath and lights; good garden.
