All your lives you have heard the expression "As safe as a Government bond," and now is the time to get them bearing a higher rate of interest than ever before and upon easier terms. This Bank makes no profit directly or indirectly in the sale or purchase of these bonds, but we have given a great amount of time and labor to the work of distribution, at a large actual loss to ourselves, because we feel as every American must feel, that the interest of the Government comes first. You Must Pay or Fight Take Your Choice Get in behind this bond issue and do your part. If you have not the ready money on hand, the bank will loan it to you so you -will not be cramped. These bonds are not to be considered as axpense, but as an investment of the soundest nature. If there is something about them that you don't understand, call in and talk it over with us. That old lesson must be retaught. Uncle Sam is about to strike. The world will soon feel the militant might of a great peaceful people. The kindly sympathetic uncle of theworld will soon unloose his power in defense of human rights. We, the people of the country, are behind him. His force will be our force. His ability to help mankind will be measured by our promptness in helping him. How Can You Help? You Have A Chance Today! Uncle Sam the same Uncle Sam who for decades past has guarded over the happiness and prosperity which have stood as models to the world, now asks you to loan him money. He cannot knock at the door of each of us. But his request for a loan as personal, just as individual as it would be if he rang your door bell tomorrow morning and personally said, "Please lend me money." The money that Uncle Sam borrows will go for food for your army (and it must be fed); it will go for uniform, ammunition and equipment; it will go for ships and construction; it will go toward putting a sup port behind our flag which will be worthy of the stars and stripes upon it. Every dollars of the money will go for something which, in Uncle Sam's judgment is necessary for your protection, or for human welfare. We are asked to loan money in amounts of $50, $100, $1000 and up. In return for each loan Uncle Sam will give us an I. O. U. an engraved slip of paper called a Government Bond on which he promises to pay back the loan, and to pay us in the meantime interest of 4 percent per year. fio high does the credit of Uncle Sam stand, that should you at any time be pressed for funds, any banx will loan close to the full amount which you loaned Uncle Sam. You merely deposit Uncle Sam's I. O. U's your Government Bond3 as security. If you feel that your Uncle Sam is worth a loan of $50 or more, you can quickly arranga by going to any bank. We will explain the payment of Interest, or anything else in connection with the loan which you want to have explained. g a a a m a a a a a a Buy Your Liberty Bond TODAY This advertisement donated by Hickory Furniture Company, Martin Furniture Company, Hickory Chair Manufacturing Co. 1 1..- ''i HnnimninMHMiinmma w is-p-i n ' II AU mK MAV u tv oi nun mm c i hii i e . b e .
