Elias Sigmon, Jay S. Wdlfong, John F. Holler and W. S. Stroup, and the following business was transacted: On motion it was ordered that E. S. Hawn of Caldwell township was relieved, of Special District School Tax, amounting to $1.04 on ac count of not having any property in special school tax district. On motion Jim Cline colored, of Clines township was placed on out side pauper list on account of old age and being unable to work, with allowance of . $1.50 per month. (Check to be sent to Claremont, N. C.) On motion A. L. Hedrick of Hickory township wfris relieved of poll tax for year 1917 on' account of loss of hand. On motion it was ordered that the allowance of Francis Propst of Jacobs Fork Township be increas ed from $1.00 per month to $1.50 per month. On motion the resignation of J. M. Crouse, supervisor of Caldwell township was accepted, and Ed Bar ker was appointed to fill the vacancy as supervisor of Caldwell township. On motion it was ordered that Mrs. E. S. Powell of Jacobs Fork township, be placed on outside pau per list for a period 'of three months at the rate of $1. per month, on account of chronic infirmity. Maiden, N. C, R-l. On motion it was ordered that J. S. Sigmon of Clines township be re lieved of special district school tax to amount of $1.28 on account of real estate to value of $690 not being in special tax district. On motion it was ordered that sal aries of all county officers including Supt. of county home be paid for month of November. On motion it was ordered that $1,000 be paid Hickory Township Road Commission on 1917 account. On motion it was ordered that notes due Shuford National Bank, Dec 4th, 1917, be paid. 'The Newton Township Road Com mission, met in joint session with this board for purpose of considering change in Beatty's ford Road, be ginning at St. James church, pass ing over lands of T. L. Hunsuck er as surveyed by T. L. Bandy. On motion it was ordered that T. L. Bandy, engineer, be requested to make another survey. On motion it was ordered that R. H. Shuford, be appointed County At torney for a period of 12 months, beginning Dec. 1, 1917, with same remuneration as heretofore.
