It turned out that he had boarded the train at Crousb Station and was concealed when the train ws at Lincolnton, but as soon as it start ed he came out and sat down by his co-conspirator. The officers noticed . this at the crossing and Capt. Welch kindly held the train until the arrest could be made. The man was arrested and tbe woman came off the train with him. The officers placed Bean in jail to await the arrival of an offi , cer from Caldwell, who came down Sunday and took charge of Bean. They started back to Caldwell with him, but allowed him to escape be fore reaching there, (we hear the officer ws related to Bean). On Sunday, night W. W. JBeantook the train, alone, for his destination in the. west, unmolested.
