The city of Knoxville, Tennessee, is being terrorized by the actions of a night marauding fiend who is mak ing a practice or breaking into the rooms of women and girls after they have retired and violating them un der threat of death if they make out cry. Up to last Thursday the un known fiend has slain his sixth victim. Under the advice of the at torney general of the state man women and girls are now sleeping with pistols under their pillows. The man's victims are unable to say whether he Is white or black; but they are agreed that he comes will pistol and flash light. Police believe that the fiend is a white man and elthera drug addict or a maniac. Governor Roberts has offered a re ward of five hundred dollars, the citizens have offered four hundred and relatives of victims have offered six hundred dollars more. Rowell, which occurred Sunday, this com munity loses one of Its best citizens, and one of its most consecrated work era; and the writer has lost one of his best friends. Mr. Rowell was the faithful superintendent of the Ebeuexer Sunday school, and it was his desire that he live to aee the com pletion of the church on the sight of the one which was destroyed by the cyclone several months ago. He will bo missed in this section. Member ot all denominations loved J. Frvin Rowell. and his death is a personal loss to the citizens of this communi ty. Mioses Ella Medlin and Grace Bo gan of Charlotte were the guests of Miss P. G. Hill Saturday and Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. R. P. Rowell and children are spending a few days at Wlngate. Mr. and Mrs. James Broom of Con cord spent a few days here last week with the former's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Tom Broom. Mr. Charlie Rowell has returned home from Badin, where, he has been working. Mr. Bill Price has started his mill making molasses. IMiss Lillie Hill and Mr. R. Simp son have been appointed a committee to solicit funds for Mr. L. Deotli of a Good Woman. Mrs. Rehull Richardson died at the home of tier son, Mr. T. A. Richard son in west Monroe township. Tues day morning at 7 o'clock, after sev eral weeks of lingering illness. She was 81 years old, was born and lived in this county until the day of her death. "Aunt Rehull" was a good woman, and greatly loved by all her many friends. She was a consistent member of Corinth Baptist church, and attended services there so long as she was able to go. Funeral servi ces were conducted by Rev. R. M. Halgler. The Interment was in the cemetery at Corinth. She leaves four sons, Messrs. J. W. M., T. A.. J. E., and F. E. Richardson, and anumber of grand-children. Mrs. Richardson had many friends who attended the burial services. A Musical Omen. Two women were married to mu sicians. The one, a bride of a year, was pushing a baby carriage In which were three .fine babies Triplets, all girls. The other woman had been in the bonds of matrimony a couple of weeks. "What beautiful- children!" ex claimed the newly married one. "Yes," replied the proud mother; "let me tell you the funniest coinci dence. At our wedding supper the bos who played with my husbai.d in the orchestra secrenaded him, and they played 'Three Little Maids' from 'The Mikado.' Isn't thnt funny?" At this the othet: bride turned pale. "Mercy!" she gnfsped. "At our wed ding supper Tom's friends serenaded him too, and they rendered 'The hex tef from 'Lucia.' " NOTICE.
