Keepin^VourselfWell THE HRST STEP Usually the first indication of a lowering of health is found in the bowels and liver. Something goes wrong—we eat too much, or work too hard—^and the bowel action weakens or the liver is sluggish. That heavy feeling on arising in the morning, dryness of the throat, w^h bad taste, a slight headache, dull eyes—all show that food has fermented in the intes tines, and that the body is man ufacturing poisons instead of good blood. Clear it all out. Give the stomach and bowels a fresh start Encourage the liver to to to work. Manalin does all of this, without griping or weakening. It’s the ideal laxative and liver tonic, because it follows Nature's plan, without discomfort, inflam mation or forming a habit. Con stipation may be overcome with its use. Liquid or tablet form. Washington, D. G., Dec. 7.— There are threat commercial possi. bllities in honey production in North Carolina, it is stated in a bulletin issued by the Department of Afrriculture. The report, pre- pired by E G. Carr, who recently made a survey of the bee keeping industry in the state, shows that the full possibilities of the indus try are not being realized and a number of specific recommenda tions to owners of bee hives for improvement of methods and pro duction. The pollen and nectar producing flowers of North Carolina are abundant, the bulletin points out, and the increased plantingi of clover will still further add to the sources of honey. The honey when properly produced, is of high grade and the local market for the product is good. Many more bees, it is believed, profitably could be kept in the state. Among the needs of the industry listed in the bulletin are better hives, better- stock, more careful winter protec tion, and, in (teneral, the adoption of modern methods. Bee-keepers, the bullentin says, should recognize more generally that good profits can be goit>n from bees if they are properly managed. A realization of this, Mr. Carr says, can best be given to bee-keepers through extension workers and such work is now being done co-operatively by the Department of Agriculture and the North Carolina A. and M. college. Danger Siinal If the fire bell should ring would you run and stop it or go and help to put out the fire? It is much the same way with a cough. A cough is a danger signal as much as a fire bell. You should no more try to suppress it than to stop a fire bell when it is ringing, but should (jure the disease that causes the coughing. ThiiSf can nearly always be done by taking Chamberlain's Cough Remedy. Many have used it with the most beneficial results It is especially valuable for the persistent cough that so often follows a bad cold or an attack of the grip. Mrs. Thomas Beeching, Andrews, Ind., writes: “During the winter my husband takes cold eamly and coughs and coughs. Chamberlain’s Cough Remedy is the best medicine for breaking up these attacks and you can not get him to take any other.” Ob tainable everywhere. Game Commission is Proposed The Abudubon society, E. Parker, secretary, proposes that a game commission be organized with power to unify the game laws of the state, and take all needed steps to conserve the game supply, guarding particularly the birds which are known to be of much benefit to farmers because of their destruction of insect pests. The legislature will be asked to enact some laws along %his line. A Consolation. Well, dirlstmaa time has come To find us aU so poor We’ve spent enoiisfa In buylnir glfta To finance me world’s tour. The ajs^ciation of growers has housed the cron and is waiting for the high prices of spring before shipping any. The hickory paper says prices are expected to be high ecoagh to enable the growers to make good ' the losses they had last year.
