Department of Agriculture has En larged Budget. Kalei^h, Dec. 8.—Satisfied that the receipts of the department of the next year from fertilizer taxes and other sources will show an increase over the past year, which developed a considerable falling off, the state board of agriculture made the budget of the next year $il3,883, a considerable increase oyer expenditures the past year. Insistance will be made that the legislature provided for erection of an adequate agricultural de partment building and $20,000 to complete the eradication of cattle tick in this state. Test farms are to stress next season experiments as to the use and value of agricul tural lime for different soils and crops. Engineer Tankersley, who drove No. 38 into the Richmond football special at Salisbury the night be fore Thanksgiving in 1915, and who was convicted of manslaught er and sentenced to four months, has won his case in the supreme court and has been completely vindicated. The court holds that the conviction for manslaughter cannot be sustained and the old railroad man goes free. Two men were killed in the rear-end colli sion and several were badly hurt.
