GIVE JEWELRY— Diamonds, Elgin, Waltham and Bulova Watches, Gorham Silverware, Meeker Leather Goods Costume Jewelry Use Our Lay-A way-Plan Lawrence ft. Greene Your old reliable jeweler for 33 years — SOUTHERN RAILWAY WATCH INSPECTOR — Marion High Drops Baseball And Adds Track, Intra-Murals Marion high school will not have j a baseball team this year, it has! been officially announced. It is re-] gretable, stated Coach Ditt, but the high cost of sponsoring a team was too much for this year. Last year the Rippers finished second in the league and had one of the best high school teams in Western North Car olina, but very few people took the opportunity to come out and see [them, it was pointed out. In view of jthis fact, it was better to have Intra-mural softball for boys and girls along with starting track, which is something new to the Marion boys. 4'.; Much inthusiasm is being shown in their new venture-track. The boys have been working hard for their meets with Morganton and N. C. S. D. Boys" showing promise are Gil bert Packett in the Discuss 440 and 220 yard runs, while Carl Warlick heads the dash men. In the jumping Bill Stanley, M. Robinson and Rob ert Fhiley led the parade. The hurd les are being well cared for by Rob ert Finley and Wilburn Hammett and Dennis Ayers. Plans are under way for a tri-an gular meet with Morganton, N. C. J S. D. and Marion. To the first three places medals will be awarded each school carrying its share of expens es. Records will be kept and it is hoped this meet will be an annual event.
