And being the same lands as de scribed in the following deeds: (1) Deed dated the 4th day of Janu ary, 1945, by W. G. Gregory, un married. to G. H. Ross and wife, Lillie Ross, recorded in the Office ■nf the Register of Deeds for Mc Dowell County, N. C., in Deed Book 94, at page 186; and (2) Deed dat ed the 9th day of October, 1946, by G. H. Ross and wife, Lillie Ross, Haywood Farmer Takes Lead In Corn Contest An official yield of 141.3 bush els per acre has put a Haywood county farmer out in front in the race for the 1949 corn-growing championship, Dr. E. R. Collins a gronomist for the State College Ex tension Service, said today. Unless a higher yield is reported within the next few weeks, Dwight Wil liams of Waynesville will become North Carolina's new corn cham pion. The Haywood county farmer grew his high-yielding corn on rich bottomland. He fertilized with two tons bf stable manure and 200 pounds of 7-7-7 per acre at plant ing time. On May 6, he seeded Dixie 17 hybrid in 42-inch rows, spacing it 12 inches in. the drill. He side dressed twice with 100 pounds of ANL per acre each time. Runner-up in the state-wide con test to date is a Wayne county 4-H Club boy, Dale Gainey, whose measured acre yielded 139.3 bush els. • He used hybrid N. C. 27, fer tilizing with 2,105 pounds of 6-8-6 at planting and side-dressing with 942 pounds of soda. Dr. Collins says this field was obviously over-fertilized. But he adds that even with excessive fer tilizer the cost per bushel, includ ing labor, was only 82 cents. "This again emphasizes that high yields are generally the most profitable yields,'' he said. The agronomist added that the contest is still open. Farmers who think they have exceptional yields, should contact their county agent. If the agent thinks the corn is promising enough, he will arrange for an official harvest. The North Carolina Foundation Seed Produc ers offer a 100-dollar savings bond for the highest yielding fields in each of three areas—mountains, piedmont and coastal plain. A se cond 100-dollar bond will be a warded the highest of the three as the state winner. SAUSAGE MUFFINS Muffins, hot and tasty, are ap pealing for any meal of the day. To make them all +he more attrac tive, brown bulk pork sausage and add it to the muffin batter. to W. H. Silvers and wife. Watch Your Kidneys/ Help Them Cleanse the Blood of Harmful Body Waste Your kidneys are constantly filtering waste matter from the blood stream. But kidneys sometimes lag in their work—do not act as Nature intended—fail to re move impurities that, if retained, may poison the system and upset the whole body machinery. Symptoms may be nagging backache, persistent headache, attacks of dizziness, getting up nights, swelling, pufliness under the eyes—a feeling of nervous anxiety and loss of pep and strength. Other signs of kidney or bladder dis order are sometimes burning, scanty or too frequent urination. There should be no doubt that prompt treatment is wiser than neglect. Use Daan's Pille.
