Here is a condensed list of the sporting events still to come off. AVe understand there is some idea of having a special golf tournament for girls, some time in April, but particu lars had not reached us at press time. April o, and each Saturday thereaf ter, Prize Contest for Women. April 7, 8, 9, 10, 11 12, First Annual North and South Tennis Tournament. Women's and men's singles, mixed doubles and men's doubles. April 8, Hundred Target Handicap, at (Jim Club. April 9, Tin Whistles, Medal Play, 12 Selected Holes. April 9, Second Annual Spring Steeplechase and Flat Races. Purses, $250 for each event. Full course. April 15, Hundred Target Handicap. April 16, Weekly Race Meeting April 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, Eleventh Mid-April Tournament Qualifying round and finals, eighteen holes Ster ling Trophy fdr best qualifications score; President's Trophy to winner of first sixteen; Governors' Trophy to win ner of second sixteen; sterling tropies to first and second division runncrs-up and consolation division winners. C. Bcall and Mrs. J. D. Chapman, who led with 98-10, 88. Mrs. J. R. Price and Mrs. M. J. Scammell had an 88 but also had a plus 1 handicap, which gave them the second honors at 89 net. Mrs. Barlow and Mrs Hurd played the best round of the day, as was to be expected, and came in with a gross 84. HURD, MEDALLIST On Tuesday, Mrs. J. V. Hurd be came the medallist of the North 'and South Championship Tournament for Women, which came to an end about a week earlier. Mrs. Hurd and Mrs. Barlow tied for the qualifying medal, at 91, and the first attempt to deter mine its award ended in a second tie. Mrs. Barlow led by 4 strokes at the fif teenth, but drove into the pond, and her opponent seized upon the opportuni ty to regain three of the missing strokes at this juncture. The fourth Avas gain ed on the eighteenth and the thing nad to bo played all over again. On the second play-off, on Tuesday, the two players arrived all even at the seventeenth and Mrs Hurd had the bet ter of the argument, for the eighteenth, to the extent of one stroke that gave her the medal. PINEHURST SCHOOL For Boys Combines a thorough college preparatory course with instruction in the elments of military science, and physical training in accordance with modern military deals. Stu dents are encouraged to enroll in the Cavalry Cadet Pla toon. In respect to sport, the school specializes in golf, ten nis, and horsemanship.
