"The Board of Commissioners of
he Town of Rockingham do enact:
"1. That bonds in the amount of
312,500.00 shall be issued for the
purpose of purchasing u fire truck
..iid accessories, and in order to cre
ate a sinking fund for the retire
ment of said bonds and for the pay
ment of the interest on same., a tax
: ufficient for that purpose shall be
iMinuall,v levied and collected during
(he time that said bonds tire to run.
"2. That a statement of the debt
of the said Town of Rockingham has
been filed with the Clerk of the said
Town pursuant to Sec. 2943 of the
Consolidated statutes of North Car
olina, and is open to public inspec
tion, showing the' average, assessed
valuation of the property subject to
taxation by the said Town of Rock
ingham for the three years in which
taxes were last levied to he $4,171,
700.00, and thut the amount of the
net debt of the said Town of Rock
ingham outstanding, authorized or
to be authorizedis $141,335.85.
3. That this ordinance shall take
effect immediately upon its passage.
"4. That the bonds to be issued
under and by virtue of this ordi
nance shall be used to pay for, the
fire truck and accessories, the prob
able period of usefulness of which
is ten years; that the bonds to be
issued hereunder Shall mature on
the 5th day of October, 1831; that
the said bonds shall be due and pay
able as follows: On October 5th,
1924, $1,000.00; on October 1,
1925,. $1,000.00; on October 5th, 1920,
1.000.00: on October 5th, 1927, $1,-
1 000.00; on October 5th, 1928, $2,000.00;
Ion- October 5th. 1929, $2,300.00; on
October 5th, 1930, $2,000.00; and on
October 5th, 1931, $2,500.00; that the
said bonds shall bear interest at the
rate of six per cent per annum, pay
able semi-annually, the principal
and interest to be due and payable
at the Bank of Rockingham in the
Town of Rockingham, North Caro
lina, the nrst installment cjf inter
est is to be due and payable on the
5th day of April, 1922, and the sec
ond installment of interest is to be
due and payable on the 5th day of
October, 1922, and 10 on semi-an-nally
so long as said bonds run."
The foregoing ordirnance was
passed on the 5th day of August,
1921, and was first published on the
25th day of August, 1921.

nance mut be commenced within
thirty days after its first publica
