Ellit The engagement of Miss Al berta Swain of Williamston to Mr. Henry K. Elliott of Durham was announced on Monday night, Deecmber 20. at the home of Mr. and Mrs. H. L. Swain, j parents of the bride-elet. Mrs. T. M. Britain presented a pro-j gram of Christmas readings and Mr. Gordon Reed, baritone, of Duke University, sang “The Holy City” and selected carols. Formal announement of the engagemcent was made through a mok telegram delivered by Masters Henry Handy and Billy Carstarphen at the conclusion of the program. Mrs. J. W. Mr. Elliott gave his bride-to be a orsage of red and white Rosemary Methodist Church Holds Party The Rosemary Methodist church had their Christmas pro gram Thursday night. The first part of program was a worship service with scripture read by Mickey Tickel. Mar garet Shell gave the invocation and Josephine Garner and Al ton Shell recited Christmas poems. The Junior boys and girls sang "O little town of Bethle hem" and the primary group sang "Silent Night". Seven boys and girls recited "The Christmas story", and Judy Copeland gave the poem, "The Bells". The beginners sang "Away in a manger” and Butch Hudson lead in the prayer that closed the first part of the programe. The second part was devoted to the tree and Santa. Frances Johnson played "White Christ mas" on the piano, Billy Mas sey sang "Where Santa Visits" ana orenaa xuassey sang ine Doll’s verse”. Kitty Garner re cited ‘‘Santa Claus” and Betsy Ann Starke sang ‘‘Here; comes Santa Claus". Gail Bradshaw sang ‘‘Santa is coming to town” followed by Angel Costen recit ing the ‘‘Night before Christ mas". Santa then distributed his gifts to all the children. Mrs. Hilda Finch.
