Large Number Visit Max Patch For Huge Celebration * Max Patch Saturday saw the largest crowd of people in its history when about 1,500 citizens of several states gathered thereto celebrate the open ing aof the new highway connecting Norih Carolina with Tennesee by a direct route. A gigantic barbecue dinner was served shortly afternoon, but the big speaking program which had been arranged was interrupted by a down pour of rain. This event was held under the direction of the Haywood Land and timber Company and the Boice Lumber Company. A large number of local people attended this big celebration and all were well pleased with the splendid condition of the road and the view of the Great Smoky National Park and expressed the desire to make a return trip. DREAMS HOUSE, AFIRE JUMPS FROM BUILDING Luke Extine jumped from the second story of a hotel in Greenville, S. C., last Wednes day night and died a few hours later, from injuries sustained It is said that he was dream ing that the house was on lire. He was buried near Dills boro, yesterday afternoon. He is survived by his father, Henry Extine, of this place, and his wife and two small children. TRAIL NOW OPEN TO TUCKASEEGEE FALLS that the bridle path has just been completed to Tuckaseegee High Falls. It is said to be on a 7 to 12 per cent grade. This path leaves the highway at the gap of the mountain and is about one mile to the falls.
