OPPOSES CONSOLIDATION Glenvilft* school, interested in tl Cedar Cr^ek ? .> * s t Dear Edjtor -r- Will you please .allow me space in your paper for a few words, as I am a patijpn of the and am very much e education of my children,- and also others. I live three n iles from the Glen ville school and Iherd are other fami. lies who live between 3 and 4 1-2 miles from Glenville, who have to send their childrsn to school or keep them at home. * We have been trying! to get a school house up tyere so all our child ren could go to school during the cold weather. There would be 36 children in 2 miles of this school who are out of the Glenville school limit. But the board of education would n't aid us on tie building or even give us a teacher if we built a house but gave us a Ford truck which \ doesn's give our1 children but half room when they a)re inside riding, and not out pushing, and carrying water to cool the cnginsi It carries them lown mornings very well when/ the rjads are dry, but when a hard rain comes, or the win ter months begin one mile home of and push the res [they average about evenings and 'walk of the way, and what time the trujek was not out of commission and cojuld not be cranked of mornings. The woitet weather we had last winter th s truck was frozen up or a broken ^spriikg, or no driver wa'ivie excuse ,ai d all who went to school walked, anc then got home an hour sooner than if thpy had ridden in the truck. E B wish everyone of the Board ofj Education could drive over our road after the truck hajs been running one month, and sec if with me. For two miles di there are hut ,3 can i turn, when i children going to so narrow. and rohgli. ic would not agree ; Istanee ou our jroad piaces the truck would meet the kchool, the road is During last Oct SO bad that the t| go so wo asked for road and our ro.i would give dollar vote for higher 6 labor on the ipads ,ober the rojjds got ruck could hardly some work on orir id- men said they for' dollar if the patrons' would wojk the road that way, so they did ai^l that is about all the work pur roa< anything la-jt fall got Ul amount to ait fall j Plcasf yourselves this question HoW can we pay Belied! tax and then |ies and give free find have no school in reach of our children and have to suffer the uneasiness we do when weJ :hildren in an old cm 3 and 4* miles narrow road, and (as they would *in a up here where |ded and each -6n? t place our darling truck and start tl^ over a rough, and -not learn as much little school ]}ous they are not crow) could get attention We asked Mr. W. M. Fowler, one f of the board of education, last fail, who-was responsible for the lives or our children wher we put them in that truck. He saic the board of edu cation was not, or either the truck drivers. Who is? be responsible whel to this business aj> much as sever? I of us are? I consider that I . ? bling on the lives of our children just in order to hive the name of a big school at Glcnville and get noth ing in return, unless we had settled teachers who do not allow sweet hearts, note writing and courtship in the school, our children had better be at homo, or we' could add a little more to our high tax money and put [Could ,the parents ii they are opposed we* are just gam our children in a good school where they have order. X Don't think I object to a high school at Glenville or high taxes for such -a school, but .1 absolutely ob ject to these fairy, tales of consoli dation as we have had a fair ex ample on Cedar Creek, unless we had a hard-surfaced road and tyide enough to pass a team when yeu meet I one, without getting down over the breast works of the road. I I undegthenousofemi-IatrotsearET It is roumored that if the special] school tax carries at the election the J 12th; of June that they are going to j put ti e - Dodge truck 'which was bougth for Beta on our road and the Ford truck on the Rig Ridge read, and that looks like consolidation to me. ' I think we had better get the road before we get the consolidation, as we have already got the cart before the horse. A MOTHER o | ' ? . TRY TWO CASES Only two cases have been tried in the civil court now in session, up to this moruyig. The first case tried was known as the horse-swapping case.
