PAGE EIGHT Gardner-Lloyd Wedding Solemnized In Charlotte Ceremony Friday Afternoon The marriage of Miss Elizabeth Lloyd, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Alexander Thelbert Lloyd or Hills boro, to Guy Winstead Gardner, son of Mr. and Mrs. Bernard W. Gardner of Roxboro, was solemnized Friday afternoon, April 12, at 5:30 o’clock in the Hawthorne Lane Methodist church, Charlotte. The Rev. J. C. Cornette, officiated, in the double ring ceremony. Church decorations were in the traditional green and white. Prior to the ceremony a program of nup tial music was rendered by Oliver Cook, organist, and Mrs. James N. Bryan, soloist, sister of the bride. Selections included: “Clairede Lune", Debussy; “Ave Maria”, Schubert; “All For You”, Brown; “Moonlight Sonata”, Beethoven; “Because”, D’Hard lot; and “Liebestraum", Liszt. The traditional wedding marches were used. The bride entered the church with her brother-in-law, Elry L. Mincey, of Charlotte, by whom she was given in marriage. The long sleeves were lace trimmed and tapered to a point over th6 hand. The full skirt with lace and ruffle trim ended in a long cir cular train. Her veil of bridal illusion was draped from a Juliet cap with clusters of orange blossoms on each side. She carried a bouquet of gardenias and orchids. Mrs. Jean Satton Pierson of Char lotte, was matron of honor and the bride's only attendants. Her dress was fashioned with a fitted bodice of white jersey, three-quarter length sleeves, and a double skirt of tulle. Her shoulder length veil fell from a coronet of plaited tulle. She carried an arm bouquet of pink carnations and blue delphinium. The bridegroom had as his best man his uncle. James L. Winstead, of Roxboro. Ushers were Sanders Me Whorter, William Davenport, and Curtis Long, of Roxboro. The bride’s mother wore a dress of black crepe with a corsage of red roses. Mrs. Gardner, mother of the bridegroom, wore a dress of sheer black with which she wore an orchid corsage. For travel the bride changed to a three piece suit of lime green wool. Her white hat was trimmed in green to match the suit, and her other accessories were black. She wore an orchid from her bridal bouquet. After a Southern wedding trip the couple will be at home 305 Rockledge Apartments, Charlotte. Mrs. Gardner was graduated from Hillsboro High School and Dur ham Commercial School. For the past three years she has held a position as secretary with the Kend all Company in Charlotte. The bride groom received his education at Hargrove Military Academy, Chat ham, Va., and King's Business Col lege, Raleigh. At the beginning of World War II he enlisted and serv ed for eighteen months in the in fantry. He is now employed as an auditor with the State Department For County Commissioner I am a candidate for the office of County Commissioner of Person County subject to the Democratic Primary on May 25th.
