It looks as though we were getting the business and for this reason all one needs to do is to stand fast to the bull side until the tide turns. The move ment is liberal in one sense and in an other too moderate. To make eleven million bale we will have to have much larger receipts. These are pot. in sight at the present moment and we may not see a free movement until February or March. While receipts are so mode rate and the trade is buying, the. tern dency of prices should be upward, j There is more business than we have seen in months. Looking at-the sit--uation at th opening' of the year, it Js more' encouraging than for. soms time now. Nothing like overproaucuon faces the tradfc and on the other hand it looks as though there might be-a-scramble to get cotton before the plan ters let go again. In every; direction, the year opens with sentiment favor-; able to the market. As long as traders are willing to buy and there is no men acmgr accumulation in sight the ten dency of the market is likely, to bej favorable to purcnasers. - - ; Chicago. Ills., Jan. 2.
