r POSTSCRIPTS Mayor Powell had one case yester Say. Curry Robertson vraa lined $5.25 ror disorderly conduct. Commissioner of Agriculture S. L. Patterson left yesterday for Tarboro to hold a farmers' Institute. The German Fire Insurance Com pany of Freeport, 111., has taken out license to do business in this state. Rev. J. S. Haswood, pastor of the Pilot Baptist church here, has also ac cepted a call as pastor of the Ephesus church near here. Judffe Geo. H. Brown, Jr., and Solici tor Armistead Jones have gone to Lil lington where a term of Harnett court will be held this week. Rev. W. H. Moore, presiding elder of the Raleigh district, preached Sunday at Millbrook and Brooklyn and return ed to Pittiboro last afternoon. Mr. E. H. Lee returned to Macon. Da., Sunday. His family remained here for a longer -visit. Mr. Lee de clares that very little cotton is now unsold In that section. Rev. S. J. Betts, who recently moved here from Bayone, "N. J., has been called to the pastorate of the Mt. Morlah Baptist church to succeed Rev. M. A. Adams, resigned. Mrs. Martha A. Holloway yesterday qualified before Clerk of the Court W. M. Russ as administratrix of her mother, the late Mrs. Martha A. Par ker, widow of Weston Parker of this" county. Helen Hood, the little five year old Daughter of Deputy Register of Deeds W. H. Hood, is recovering from tne painful Injuries she received by being run over by a delivery wagon Friday afternoon. She is considered out of danger now. There were 754 persons present at the Baptist Tabernacle Sunday-school Sun day and 33 new scholars were en rolled. Several Joined the church and after a sermon by Rev. J. C. Massee on "The New Birth" there were three professions of, faith. Mr. Ashley Home, president of the state fair, spent yesterday here. He has appointed his executive committee for the next fair and- the list is now with Secretary Pogue. Nearly all have i accepted. Mr. Horn declares that the outlook now is most auspicious. Mr. "William S. Primrose Jr. has sent his mother, Mrs. W. S. Primrose, here a" fine collection of Navajako rugs, made by the Indians of New Mexico. Mrs. Primrose has sent them to the woman's exchange to be sold and they are now on exhibition at Mrs. Fas nach's .store. Dr. " Russeir Sherrill Is here from Louisville, Ky., and has formed a co partnership with Dr. Joel D. Whltaker, and will conduct the office In Dr. Whit aker's absence. Dr. and Mrs. Whitaker will leave tomorrow for a trip to Cali fornia where they will remain until Mrs. Whitakers health improves. The losses in the Baltimore fire will undoubtedly be very heavy on some of the insurance companies. Insurance Commissioner Toung said last evening that he supposed the home companies probably held the largest policies in that city.
