The captain of this staff ha never known what It is to make a failure in bis ef forts for the order in any capacity he has been placed, and should this under taking fall it can never be laid to his indifference or want of interest. Then again, it is only a few months before our ('rand L Ige mefiing. and in addi tion to giving our distinguished visitors and members a g 1 time, we ouhl by all means to show them the b aulitied ork of i he order. mir ( Ira nd Scen t a r . tvlucia nl ly. es t he follow in u letter for pultlica -ttoii. owing to its personal mention, but having visited this Ludne in ictober and seen the truth of the statements made, he thinks the order has a right to seo it : Hope Mills. Now what we started out tosay la. will the Order In Kaleigh appreciate this distinctu n, and will It come up to the measure of ltsduty in showing an ajipreeintb u of it? Will the people of UaM;;h, outside the Order, manifest an nppieiatfrn of ths occasion? We be lieve that in all such cases, wherein our "city can derive any benefit from It, ev ery one ought to contribute. In some way, to make the occasion pleasnnt to our v'sitlng guests. Nothing contributes more largely to the injury of a city than to have the Im pression go out that It is selfish, close fisted and inhospitable. This cannot be ttuthfully said of the people of Raleigh, but how easy It is for others to think po. We hope that each and all will pro perly consider this matter and do all they' can to aid it.
