The committee on printing reported that they had awarded the public printing to Josepbus Daniels, and that be had filed the required bond. The following; bills were introduced: Relative to insurance companies. To divide the crime of murder into two classes and define the same. To require banking institutions and private bankers to make returns to the State Treasurer. The Soldier s Home bill was made the special order for next Wednes day. CALENDAR. Bill to incorporate the Charlotte Literary and Library Association, passed 3d reading. Bill relative to the rate of interest In North Carolina was taken up. An amendment was offered that certain counties be exempted from the provisions of the bill. Senator Bellamy took the floor in opposition to the bill, and in reply to certain remarks of Senator Wil liams who charged that he (Bellamy) advocated measures similar to those of the carpetbaggers. Among the counties proposed to be exempted are New Hanover and Mecklenburg. Senators Butler, Turner and others addressed the Senate. A motion was made to commit the bill to the judiciary committee. ' Adopted. HOUSE OP REPRESENTATIVES. The House was opened with prayer by Rev. Mr. Denny, of the House : The following petitions were intro duced: To establish an Industrial Schoo for white girls. Leave of absence granted Messrs Yancey, Hendrix, Grier, Adams, Whitfield Newsom and Phipps. - The following bills and resolutions introduced. The board of Aldermen of the city of Wilmington to convey a lot for an armdry and create a reserve corps. The - following bills were reported To enable Washington county, to procure a railroad. To dispose of the unclaimed dead bodies of convicts, passed third read ing. To compromise, commute and set tle the State debt, passed third read ing. To incorporate the Carolina and Virginia Railway Company, passed third reading. Mr. Jones, of Wake, was allowed to introduce bill to allow the Raleigh Bank further time to organize, refer red. . Bill to authorize the city of Golds boro to issue bonds, passed second reading. To amend the charter of Durham Water Co.
