Otho i Shipley, of Ba 1 1 i m ore i c ou u t y , t w en ty t h re e m 1 1 es from the city of Baltimore, on coin to the spring, about five weeks since, found one of his children three years old, dead in tpe spring, the water in which was not more than three or four inches deep.- Sus picion resting upon no particular person, it was supposed to have been an accident. The , spring was afterwards covered with rjoards,, sufficient room being left to yip up the water. About .two weeks afterwards, another, child, named Jemima, about six years old, was ound dead in the spring. from which the boards had been removed. The face of the child was ih the water, and had upon it marks of violence. Suspicion then attached to a black gui who had purs ed the children, but not sufficient to ena ble them to extort a confession from the negro, in consequence of her age, which was only ten years. Mr, Shipley, however determined upon sending the black girl to his fathers Irom whence he had got her, and mentioned the circumstances. The negro girj had not" been at her master's more, tnan two weeks, pet ore a DiacK cnun was found dead, having - been suffocated.
