The many friends of Emmitt Curl
are glad to see him out again after
a severe spell of typhoid fever.
Miss Bessie Brogden, of Wake
county,. who has been visiting Mrs.
G. N. Watkins returned to her
home last week.
Mrs. R. C. Tunstall, of Apex,
who is visiting her parents Mr. and
Mrs. Jesse Goley, of near Creed
moor, was in town Wednesday.
Miss Huldah Wheeler joyfully
entertained a number of her young
friends Thursday evening last in
honor of MissFronie Peed, of Dur
ham. Many games were, played,
which wore enjoyed by all. The"
happy party departed at 10:30 de
claring Miss Wheeler a charming
hostess

minutes before his death. He was
about thirty-five years of age, and
is survived by his wife, and by his
father, F. J. Veasey, of Wilkins,
and by two brothers, C. 0. Veasey,
of Wilkins, and J. A. Veasey, of
Richmond, and by one sister, Mrs.
Hattie Gully, of this city.
Mr and Mrs. Veasey moved here
several years ago from Wilkins and
have made many friends in the city.
Mr. Veasey was employed by the
R. J. Reynolds, Tobacco Company,
and held a responsible position with
that company.
The remains were taken to Wilkins
for interment.
Death of Little Child
. Little Melvin Jones Dixon was
born the twenty-third of October
and died the twenty-sixth. His
life on earth" was very short but
Jesus knew best. Now calmly and
sweetly he is sleeping on his dear
Savior's breast. He - took a little
flower in each hand and went home
to wear his crown. Dear parents,
grieve not for him for he is wait
ing at the gate his loved ones there
to greet.
Oh, my little darling,
How I loved you, no one can ever
tell,
How it. filled my heart with sadness
As I spoke my last farewell. S.
Mr. V. V. Veasey Dead
Winston Sentinel says:
"Mr. V.V. Veasey died suddenly
of heart disease Monday morning
at ten o'clock at his home on JNorth
Liberty street. He was not con-
