W. Graham, Jr., on Military Street. Miss Landis and Miss Marie Bad- gett, also bride-elect, each was pre- I sented a lovely corsage by the hos- j tess upon arrival. ! Spring flower.3, including tulips i and iris, decorated the home, which was en suite. The table was center ed with a handsome arrangement of snowballs and burning white candles. Hanes-Tunstall Refreshments, consisting of lime sherbert, gingerale, punch, chicken salad sandwiches, nuts and mints 1 were served to approximately 25 j guests. The bride-elect is a graduate of New'berry College, Newberry, S. C., and received her master’s degree from the University of South Caro lina. She has been head of the de- partmeoL of commercial education in the Hartsville schools for several years. Johnson of Rocky Mount, for many years residents of Oxford, and Robert Jennings Hale, son of ; Mr. and Mrs. William Robert Hale, also of Reeky Mount, were married in a morning ceremony April 23 at Thorpe Memorial Chapel in Rocky Mount v.'ith Dr. T. M. Grant offi ciating. The program of wedding music was presented by Norville Pi'ice, or ganist, and Miss Patsy Bailey, so loist. The bride was e.scorted and given in marriage by her father and the bridegroom had as his best man Louis Edwards of Raleigh. Miss Tommj’-e Johnson, sister of the bride, was maid of honor and the bridesmaids were Miss Alethia Haie, sister of the bridegroom and Miss Minnie Warmock of Kelford. Ushers were Kenneth Hale, cousin of the bridegroom of Tarboro and Julian Johnson of Rocky Mount. The bride wore for her wedding a white suit. Her hat was a large pic ture milan navy straw and she wore navy accessories. She carried a white satin prayer book topped with a white orchid showered with lilies of the valley and white satin rib bons. The jnaid of honor, Miss Johnson, was dressed in a pastel pink suit with soft green accessories. She carried an old fashioned nosegay of mixed flowers tiea with rainbow ribbon. Miss Hale chose a light gray suit with dark grc-cn accessories and carried an old fashioned nosegay of mixed flowers .tied with mint green ribbon. Miss Warmock was’ attired in a pale blue suit with na vy accessories. She also carried an old fashioned 'nosegay of mixed flow'ers t’ed with blue ribbon. Immediately after the wedding ceremony, Mr. 'and Mrs. Daniel Sloan Johnson, parents of the bride entertained at a wedding breakfast given at the home of Mrs. A. S. Kennedy. Upon their return from a wed ding trip, the bridal couple will make theii home in Rocky Mount. The bride was graduated from Rocky Mounty High School and at tended the Woman’s College of the University of . North Carolina. She is now enrolled in the Carolina School of Commerce in Rocky Mount. The bvidegrooin was. graduated from Rocky Mount High School and attended State. College. He is now on the staff of the engineer ing department of the State High way Department in Enfield. Five Cars of Coal For County Schools There will be fuel for heat in the schools of the county when the winds blow and the snow falls come next winter. Cars of coal were received this week for use at the Stem, Oak Hill and Creedmoor schools, with two car.s for the Oxford schools. The fuel is purchased under state contract and is unloaded by em ployees of the school system.
