Saves worki Hall's Drug Store I’hone 2671 G, A. of Hester In Meeting for April John Woofly, Ministerial Stu dent, Supplies for Services at Baptist Church ENON-HESTER, April 28.—The G.A.’s of Hester Baptist Church met Monday night at the church. The meeting opened by singing the G.A. hymn, followed with prayer by Mrs. Jack Currjn, counselor. The roll was called and the regular bus iness meeting held. The meeting then was turned over to the pro gram chairman, Marilyn Hughes, who was assisted in presenting quite an interesting program, the topic being “Rural Life, Its Churches and Its Prjbiems.” Suretha Knott gave the Bible study, with several mem bers taking part on the topic dis cussion. A1, the conclusion, a 'num ber of suggestions were made for the improvement of our church and rural ufe, in a round table discus sion, with the members, counselors and visitors taking part. The meet ing was closed with sentence pray ers. The G.A.’s, who are preparing for a coronation service to be held at the church the second Sunday night in May, held a rehearsal following ' the meeting. In conclusion, the hos tesses for the month, Dorothy Rag land and Nancy Brooks, assisted by i their mothers, Mrs.'James Brooks! and Mrs. Garland Ragland, served punch and cookies. i John Woody Heard ' A large congregation attended the j services at Hester Baptist Church Sunday morning. John Woody, a ministerial student at Campbell I College, filled the pulpit, bringing j a most inspiring message. Many | visitors from neighboring churches ' were present to hear the visiting j preacher. Hester Church is looking i forwai’vl to having their 'new pastor j next Sunday. Rev. Roger Williams, i Jr., has accepted a call to the j church as a full time pastor. f A beautiful floral arrangement was xjlaced in the church by the W. M. S. in memory of their beloved pastor, the late Rev. W. D. Poe. The dowers were later placed on the grave along with a beautiful Easter plant from an Enon group. Ml’S. Bennie Cuirin is spending some time with hei daughter, Mrs. James Flanagan and Mr. Flanagan in 2\sbury Park, N. J. Winners of Cup A crowd estimated, at more than a thousand attended the singing convention held at Berea High School Sunday. Mrs. Tyree Woody and daughter, of Enon Church, won the loving cup for the best duet. Mr. and Mrs. G. E. Dickerso'n had as guests Sunday afternoon and until bedtime, Robert Dickerson and Mrs. Adah Dickerson of Rox- boro, Mr. and Mrs. Garland Fitz of Chase City, Va. Mrs. Wash Cun in, who has been confined to her home with illness for 'about ten weeks, is resting com fortably most of the time. However she has the day and 'night nurses on duty vhth her yet. Miss Louise Hunt of Meredith College, and friend, James Strick land of Rocky Mount, visited Miss Hunt’s parents, Mr, and Mrs. Wal ter Hunt, Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Jimmie Harris and son, Richie, returned to their home in Toledo, Ohio, the latter part of the week after a visit with Mr. and Mrs. Casper Critcher and ! family. j Elam Curri'n continues to improve i at his home after being a patient in Granville Hospital for several weeks.
