At the thirty -sixth anniversary of the American Anti-Slavery, Society, held in New York on Tuesday, the foil owing resolutions were apopted : "Tbat we see in the fifteenth amand-me-nt proposed to the national edisii tution the cap-stone and completion ofour movement the fiulUlmeat'of our pledge to the negro. "That in the ostracism and exclu sive action of the most of the public house;, in this city toward the colored people, we see but too plainly the pro shivery spirit of Southern slavery which fully justifies the conti ued and earnest remonstrance of this society. K Herald, J. Wilkes Booth. His Treatment of a Bust of Lin In the winter of hr lSfi t Wilkes Booth, the assassin, was play ing a star engaeent at Mr. Ben De Bar's Opera House in this city. Com ing down one morning to rehearsal, he had occasion to enter a picture gal lery and artist emporium for the pur pose of procuring some paint or; face dye either for himself 'or some uher of the actors. ' -sj After purchasing what he wanted, he wus retiring from the sore, when his eye caught a plaster bust of Presi dent Lincoln, which was being exhib ited for sale. The sight of it'apear ed to arouse his-i aTtgnation, anil to stjr him up to a high degree of Bage, ho much so, indeed, that he cursed both it and its original in the piost violent strains. He worked hirjiself into such a passion that, walking pver to the bust, he struck it a violent blow m the face, knocking off" a piece from its eyes, ami soievetvly injuring his own baud that it, bled profusely,: and he was obhged to wrap a handker chief around it. 1 ' -No notice was taken of the act! and Booth left the store for the theatrej, the owner of the buSt picked up the frag ments which, had. been knocked off ami glued it so dexterously thatj the injury done it could not be detected. l ears passed on, and one morhing in April the country was shaken tp its centre as no other piece of intelligence had ever shaken it Before thatj the President had been- shot in Ford's theatre in Washington by J.
