Basketball Play In Full Swing Tonight Halifax-Warren teams take off their Christinas wraps to night with a near-full confer ence slate on tap. Highlighting the first round of loop action since the two week holiday layoff will be Warren ton's meeting with Wel don on the Tornadoes' home court The featured attraction of this match will be the night cap, when two teams with per fect 3-0 conference marks face one another. Weldon's boys have gotten wins over Littleton. Davie and Enfield, while the Yellow Jackets' victories have come at the expense of Norlina, Aurel ian Springs and Enfield. In the opening game Warren ton's Lady Jackets will tangle with a Weldon team paced by Glo Elias, who has lad the Weldon sextet to a 2-1 confer ence record thus far. Norlina warmed up for its .stand against Aurelian Springs tonight with a win and a loss at the hands of Middleburg on Tuesday night. Norlina girls | are currently in second spot in i the H-W standings, while Au relian Springs will be looking for its first win in five starts. | Littleton's boys and girls ag gregations will try for their | first dual win of the year to j night when they encounter Davie squads which have shown | some signs of brilliance this season. Davie's boys have a 2-1 record, with a loss to Wel don, 50-40, the only blemish on their loop record. The Davie girls have a 1-2 loop mark, in | eluding a 57-53 loss fo Little ton on December 15. Tuesday night conference warfare continues with Warren ton at Littleton. Davie at Nor lina and Littleton at Aurelian Springs. Norlina Splits Games In Play At Middleburg Middleburg got a double figure scoring punch from three of its starters Tuesday night to win its eleventh game of the year with a 54-30 trounc ing of a Norlina boys team. Coach Joe Stepusin's team ended the holiday vacation with a display of shooting accuracy from both the floor and foul line to keep their perfect rec ord intact. Jimmy Brown's 18 points was high for both teams and the Wildcats, playing before home fans, got added help from Bil ly Watkins, with 14, and J. W. Bartholomew's 13 point effort. Jimmy Hundley was top scorer for Coach Bob Price's visitors, who fell behind by a 25-13 mark at half-time. From the foul line Middle burg hit on ten of 14 and Nor lina dropped eight of 11. In the opening game the Mid dleburg lassies dropped their ninth game of the year as they dropped a 25-12 decision to the Wavelets. The Middleburg girls played on even terms with the visi tors during the two periods but were unable to find the range from the floor in the second: and final quarters. Gayle Williams was high scorer for the night with ten points, and Shirley Abbott dropped in nine- to lead the losers.
