Weekend guests of Dr. ana Mrs. R. S. Jones were Miss Louis* Jones of Durham and Mr. R. L. Hunter of Norfolk, Virginia. Mrs. Sam Weldon returned Saturday from visiting rela tives in Norfolk, Va., for some time. She was accompanied by Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Smith. Mrs. Barker Williams has re turned after spending some time at her summer home in the mountains of South Caro lina. Mesdames Irene Short, Doro thy Elam, Margaret Ann Sipes, Margaret Hight and Miss Polly Curtis spent Sunday at Vir ginia Beach Va. Mr. and Mrs. William Allen Conner and daughters, Adrl enne and Zena, of iionroe Township, N. J., are visiting Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Collins here for several days. They also visited Mr. Russell Connor, Jr., in Durham and Mr. Russell Conner, Sr., in Forest City. Mrs. S. K. Clark and Mrs. Carmel Finch spent Tuesday night with relatives in Raleigh. Miss Jean Allen of New York is visiting her family here. ? . Mr and Mrs. Horace Hedge pcth and daughter, Charlene, of Jacksonville, Fla., are visit ing relatives here this week. Other dinner guests of the Hedgepeth family on Sunday were Mr. John Kirby and sons, Danny and Johnny, of Granite Fails, Mr and Mrs. Richard Hedgepeth and son and Miss Linda Walters of Richmond, Va , and Mr. and Mrs. H. P. Hedgepeth of South Hill, Va. Miss Mary Weston of Nor folk, Va., is a guest of Mrs. E H. Weston. They will visit Dr. and Mrs. B. M. Weston in Asheboro during the weekend. Mrs. J. V. Perkinson in a ceremony of beauty and simplicity which took place on Saturday afternoon, June 30, at four o'clock in Bethlehem Methodist Church, Areola, Miss Edith Lorraine Harris became the bride" of David William Perkinson with the Rev. Wil-; liam Sabistan, pastor, officiat ing. Miss Harris is the daugh ter of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Edgar Harris of Areola and Mr. Perkinson is the son ofj Mrs. William Horace Perkin son and the late Mr. Perkinson of Norlina. Music was rendered by Miss I Harriet Daniel of Warrenton, i pianist, and Mrs. Carl Fleming of Henderson, soloist, who sang, "Indian Love Call" andj "The Lord's Prayer." The bride, given in marriage, by her father, wore a gown of pure silk organza edged in Chantilly lace, featuring a por trait neckline, long pointed sleeves and scalloped torso bodice. Her full skirt, trimm ed in lace, ended in a chapel train. Her fingertip veil of illusion fell from a pearl scal loped crown and she carried a white prayer book, topped with white orchids and showered with stephanotis and fern. Mrs. George Wise of Erwin was matron of honor. She j wore a gown of lavendar chif fon over taffeta with a picture hat and carried yellow mums, tied with ribbon. Bridesmaids were Mrs. Clarence Harris cf Raleigh, Mrs. Ray Edwards of Louisburg, Mrs. Charles Greer of Warrenton, Miss Geneva Congleton of Washington, N. C., and Miss Barbara Ann Shearin of Whiteville, cousin j of the bride. They wore simi lar gowns to the matron of honor and also carried yellow mums. John Linwood Perkinson of Norlina served his brother as best man. Ushers were Clar ence Harris of Raleigh and Irvin Harris of Littleton, brothers of the bride, Billy Fuller, Bob Traylor 2nd Charles Gupton of Norlina. Vada Jean Harris of Little ton was flower girl and David Harris of Atlanta, Ga.. was ring bearer. Mrs. Harris chose for her daughter's wedding a navy blue lace with white acces sories and Mrs. Perkinson wore beige lace and matching ac cessories. They each wore a corsage of white cymbidium orchids. The bride is a graduate of John Graham High School and Chowan College, Murfreesboro, and holds a position with the State Capital Life Insurance Company in Raleigh. The bridegroom is a graduate of Norlina High Schol and State College, Raleigh, and will be associated with the Highway Department in Greensboro where they will reside. For travel to the western part of the state the bride changed to a two-piece mingl ed suit with white accessories and the orchid lifted from her bridal bouquet. Mrs. Walter Shearin of Smithfield, Va., aunt of the bride, directed the wedding. Reception Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Har ris entertained at a reception following the wedding in the Areola Club House which bore a white and green motif anil lighted tapers. Mrs. Foster King was in charge and Mr. and Mrs. Bob Clark greeted guests. Mrs. Irvin Harris registered guests in the bride's book. Mrs. Ray mond Harris directed guests to the refreshment table where ham biscuits, cake, nuts and mints were served. Miss Lizzie Shearin poured punch and assisting in serving were Mesdames Melvin Shear in, Bruce Browning, Billy L. King, Elmer Harris and Miss Peggy Norwood. Good-byes were said to the Rev. Mr. Sa bistan and Mrs. Sabistan. Cake-Cutting Following the Perkinson Harris rehearsal on Friday night, Mr. and Mrs. R. H. Ful ler and Mr. and Mrs. Charles Gupton entertained at a cake-i cutting in the Fuller home. Guests were greeted by Mr. and Mrs. John Perkinson. Mrs. Gladys Perkinson, moth-j er of the bridegroom, poured punch and Mrs. Clarence Har-' ris, mother of the bride, serv ed the cake after the couple | had cut the first traditional slice from the three-tiered wedding cake, topped with a miniature bride and groom. Mints and nuts were also served. The table was covered with a cut-work linen cloth and i bore silver candelabra with pink lighted tapers' and a nose gay of pink and white roses. Entertain At Luncheon Mrs. Ervin Harris of Little ton and Mrs. Clarence Harris of Raleigh entertained at a luncheon in Littleton on Satur day for the attendants of the Perkirtson-Harris wedding. Miss Edith Lorraine Harris, bride elect, presented the brides maids with white gloves. Miss Harriet Daniel of War renton and Mrs. Carl Fleming of Henderson were also spec ial guests to attend. Following a bridal trip the couple will reside in Warren Plains. Mrs. Allen Honors Mrs. Edward Hurst Mrs. C. P. Allen entertained informally on Friday after noon in honor of Mrs. Edward Hurst of Beverly Hills, Cali fornia. Delicious refreshments were served. Mrs. Hurst has also been en tertained at cards by Mes dames Virginia Pcarsall, John Rodgers, W. R. White, E. H. Weston, John Tarwater, Fred Hurst and Miss Mary Frances Rodwell. Mrs. Walker Feted At Stork Shower LITTLETON ? Mrs. Bobby Walker was feted at a pink and blue shower at her home on Saturday night with Mrs. Luther Walker as hostess. The entire home bore arrange ments of pink rosebuds. Guests were greeted by Mrs. Luther Walker and games and contests were enjoyed under the direction of Mrs. Robert Walker.
