News & Society Items Mr. and Mrs. E. R. Wood were visitors in Chapel Hill on Tuesday. Master E. R. Wood III, who has been their guest for a week, returned with them. Mr. and Mrs. Edward Rig gan and children were in Roanoke Rapids on .Tuesday afternoon. Messrs Lawrence Boyd. Bil ly Rogers and Bobby Wells are spending this week in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. ^ Mr. and Mrs. Frederick Benton and son, Alan, have returned to their home in Aiken, S. C., after visiting relatives in Warrenton and Norlina. Mr. Robert Hunter Shearin of Greensboro spent the week end here with relatives. Mr. and Mrs. Charles James and family of New Bruns wick, N. J., are guests of Mr. and Mrs. R. M. James. Mr. and Mrs. Malvern James of Salem, Va., were their week end guests. Mr. and Mrs. James Math ews and children of Chatta nooga, Tenn., were dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. E. T. Odom on Tuesday. Mrs. E. David, of South Hill, Va., attended the wedding of Miss Mary Elizabeth Pittard in Jacksonville on Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Willie King of Norlina and Mr. and Mrs. Clayton Richardson of Ral eigh spent last week with Mr. and Mrs. W. S. Richardson in Franklin. While there they visited Cherokee. Ghost Town, Maggie Valley, Highlands and the Ruby Mines. Mrs. Jimmie Wrinkle of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., visited Mr. and Mrs. S. M. Gardner on Friday en route to Wins ton-Salem for the graduation of her daugher, Miss Judith Gardner Wrinkle, at Wake Forest College. Mr. and Mrs. Henry B Shearin and Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Burton visited Mr. and Mrs. Walter Ferguson in Durham on Sunday. Mrs Lula Critcher returned with them to her home in Durham Cr being., a guest of Mr. Mrs. Shearin for two weeks. Mrs. Frank Overby and Mis. Louise Haithcock visited Mr. and Mrs. W. T. Robertson in Rocky Mount on Sunday. Mrs. Carlton Williams of Nor folk, Va., was a weekend guest of Mrs. Overby and Mrs. Haithcock. Mr. Franklin Rook of Eliz abeth City and Mr. and Mrs Joseph Scott of Bowling Green, Ohio, were luncheon guests of Mrs. W. D. Rodgers on Tuesday. Mrs. Harry 0. WILLIAM RAY FRAZIER M/ss Harrell Becomes Bride Of Mr. Fraz/er In a ceremony of beauty and dignity at Immauel Bap tist Church in Fayetteville on Sunday, June 2, at 4 o'clock, Miss Kay Harrell, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Harrell of Fayetteville, became the bride of William Ray Frazier of Clinton, son of Mr. and Mrs. A. R. Frazier of Afton. The Rev. T. J. Fulk officiat ed at the double ring cere mony. A program of nuptial music was rendered by Mrs. E. B. Prine, organist. Mr. A. D. Shirley, soloist, sang, "Be cause," "0 Promise Me" and "The Lord's Prayer" as a ben ediction. The chancel of the church was decorated in bas kets of white gladoli, white snapdragons, white pom poms, | buckets of pdms and burning I tapers in wrought iron can I delabra. The bride, given in mar riage by her father, wore a gown of hand clipped lace and tulle. The close fitting bodice featured a Sabrina neckline, with long tapering sleeves, ending in cella points over the hand. The full skirt, designed with lace flounces over tulle, formed a chapel train. She carried a covered Bible topped with an orchid and showered with stepha notis. Miss June Barnhill of Wil mington, cousin of the bride, was maid of honor and wore a citrun yellow dress made of dacron polyester fabric with a sheer satin finish. The dress featured a fitted bodice and bell skirt with the back detail of the dress in fullness accented by a large bow at the back of the neckline with streamers to the hemline. The sleeves and neckline were de signed to give emphasis to the skirt and to the fullness of the back in detail. She carried a colonial nosegay of citrun pom poms. Bridesmaids were Miss Bet sy Frazier of Warrenton, sis ter of the bridegroom, Mrs. James Gardner, Miss Glenda Gillis and Mrs. Larry Martin, all of Fayetteville. They wore tea green dresses identical to that of the honor attendant and carried colonial nosegays of yellow pom poms. Miss Kathy Harris of Rich mond, Va., niece of the bride gioom, was flower- girl and wore a white dress of chiffon over taffeta, featuring puff sleeves, high neckline and a three-tiered lace skirt with a bow in the back. Her head piece was of yellow and she carried a basket of yellow rose petals. Master Tony Harris, neph ew of the bridegroom, was | ringbearer. A. R. Frazier of Afton serv ed his son as best man. Ush ers were Stanley Harrell of Atkinson, cousin of the bride; Harold Harris of Richmond, Va, brother-in-law of the bridegroom; Owen Widman pnd James Gardner of Fay etteville. Mrs. Harrell chose for her daughter's wedding a sheath lacey ribbon knit of pale blue. Her hat and accessories matched and she wore a white hybrid orchid corsage. The mother of the groom was attired in a dress of aqua cotton and tambouro embroid ery plain sheath. With it she wore matching accessories and a corsage of white hy brid orchids. A reception followed the ceremony at the Douglas Branch Memorial Educational Building. A four-tier wed ding cake centered the table. A silver punch bowl stood at one end of the table and an arrangement of bridal flow ers, flanked by burning tap ers in silver candelabra, was placed at the other end of the table. For a bridal trip to the mountains, the bride changed to a costume design sheath dress of almond green. Upon their return Mr. and Mrs. Frazier will reside at 1003 Lloyd Street in Clinton. The bride is a graduate of Fayetteville Senior High School and Worth Business College. The bridegroom is a graduate of John Graham High School and is employed by Carolina Telephone and Telegraph Co. Mrs. Harrell, mother of the bride, entertained at a brides maids puncheon on Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Mr. Harrell entertained at a bach elor dinner on Saturday after noon at 5 o'clock. Chowan Graduation j Attended On Sunday Mr. and Mrs. Egerton Ride out, Miss Emily Hideout, Mr. Luther Perkinson and Master I Bob Rideout attended the graduation exercises of Miss Margaret Ann Rideout at ] Chowan College, Murfrees-! boro, on Sunday when she re-! ceived an Associate Arts de- j gree.
