Rooker with 14 members and one visitor present. The inspirational period was led by Mrs. Julian Farrar. "The Church Seeks A Christian Community" was the topic discussed by Mrs Rook er Mrs Alton Paschall paid tribute to Mrs D F Funder burk for the fine work she has done while a member of the Zion Society. In Johnson Home Twelve Methodist ladies gr-thered at the home of Mrs. Ruby Johnson on Monday af ternoon for the regular monthly meeting of Circle No. 1 of the Woman's Society of Christian Service. Mrs W A. Delbridge. circle president, opened the meeting. Scrip ture reading was by Mrs. Mamie White The program. "Spofford House, A Ministry to Children In Need," was in charge of Mrs. J F White with Mrs. T. T Hawks and Mrs. John son assisting her with the discussion. The closing pray er was led by Mrs. M. E. Fresh garden flowers were > used for decorations Senior Class Is Feted By Couple Mr and Mrs, June Perkin son entertained members of the Norlina High School Sen ior Class and teachers, Mrs. ] Anne W Baxter and Mrs. Bessie Hicks at a Brunswick stew and chicken barbecue dinner on Monday. The delicious dinner was served at the picnic area on the lawn of the Perkinson home on Division Street. Mrs. Newman Hosts Circle At Norlina Mrs. Wallace Newman was hostess to members of Circle No. 2 of the WSCS of the Norlina Methodist Church at her home on Monday evening with Mrs. Henry Wiggins as co-hostess. Mrs B. A Thax ton led the devotional and presided over the business ? session. \ The program, "Teach Us to Pray," was presented by Mrs. Nellie Register and Mrs. j Clyde Edwards. A reading on "Christian Life" was given by Mrs. Daniel Knight, after , which the meeting was closed with a prayer by Mrs. Graham Grissom and the singing of a hymn. During the social hour the hostesses served homemade ice cream and cake to the 14 present. Walter Newman Is New YAF President Walter Newman was elect ed president of the Young Adult Fellowship of the Nor lina Methodist Church for the coming year at a meeting ?held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. C. L. Hege on Sunday night. Other officers elected were Graham Grissom, vice presi dent; Mrs. Jack Hawks, sec retary; and Mrs. Quay Quick, treasurer Mr. and Mrs. Jack Hawks were elected program chairmen for the month. Mrs. Hege, retiring presi dent, led the devotional and presided over the business session. The Rev. J. B Par vin gave an interesting talk on "The Old Camp Meeting In North Carolina." Winston-Salem on Saturday. | Held in conjunction with commencement at the Baptist college, the reunion luncheon | was attended by a large num ! ber of college alumni who graduated 50 years or more ago. Also attending the luncheon were Mr. and Mr* Robert E. Brickhouse, Jr., of Sanford.
