Senior Social Club Has Final Concert Tour By SADIE YANCEY The Norlina Senior Social Club brought to a close its spring concert tour with its final spring performance at the Senior Citizens Convalesence Home in Henderson. This is one of our highlight performances of the spring tour as several Warren County citizens are patients there including our former president, s Mrs. Louise Haithcock. We are always well received as one of the patients there tells our band director, the Rev. Curtis Campbell, that we are the best band that entertains them. Before going over, the Senior Citizens we made a stop by the Pine Haven Convalescence Center. This is another highlight of our tour as our beloved Mary Fleming is a patient there, along with several other Warren County citizens. To start our concert season the band entertained the Warren County Seniors May 21 with a concert at 1 p. m. which appeared to give great pleasure to the group. The Rev. Curtis Campbell assisted by his wife, Debbie, gave several numbers before closing the program. This was my second time to attend such a program and it appears to be more successful each year. I think if more people would get out and see what others in the county are trying to accomplish they will see what they have been missing. On May 25 the band entertained the patients at Warren Plaza. They appeared to appreciate our visit and we were well received at this time. We then loaded the Norlina Methodist bus for a trip to Murphy House restaurant in Louisburg. This is another stop that we all look forward to. The chicken was especially tasty as well as all other food served to us. Our next stop was Burnett's Rest Home where we are always well received. The next day at 2 p. m. being our regular meeting day, Oscar Baker wanted to know if we would like to return from Henderson by way of Afton School where the meeting would be held. Everyone voted in favor of this. We arrived at Afton School about 1:30 and were greeted by Mrs. Sue Felts. By ten after two most of the group had arrived so the president began by expressing the pleasure of the group at being invited to meet with this fine group of citizens. He then turned the meeting over to Miss Loyce Blaylock who introduced the assistant pastor of Warrenton Baptist Church, the Rev. Randy Daniel, who expressed a delight to take part in a meeting of this type. He then brought a most inspiring devotional closing with a beautiful prayer. After this, president Baker completed the business at hand and announced that the June meeting would be held in Drewry June 2S at 2 p. m. Refreshments wert served by the Afton anc Warrenton ladies.
