Monroe Gardner Popes Celebrate 50th Anniversary Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Parker Pope were honored on their 50th wedding anniversary at a reception Sunday given by their children, Mr. and mrs. Clarence Pearce and Mr. and Mrs. Howard Munday, and grandchildren, Sarah and Donna. The reception was held in the educational building of Gardners Baptist Church. Guests were greeted by Mrs. Miriam Cole man, Mrs. Mollie Haith cock and Mrs. Mary White. Mrs. J. P. Young registered the guests. Mrs. G. C. Robinson and Mrs. S. W. Walker presided at the refresh ment table. The reception was catered by the auxiliary Cheeks Honored On Anniversary Mr. and Mrs. Robert Twitty Cheek were honored at their home on Sunday, April 22, on the occasion of their 60th wedding anniversary. Congregations Set To Begin Celebration The combined congre gations of Hebron, Macon and Warren Plains United Methodist Church will begin their Bicentennial Celebra tion of Methodism this Sunday evening, April 29, at Macon United Methodist Church. The festivities will begin with a covered dish supper at 6:00 p. m. followed by singing and fellowship and culminating in a 25 minute film presen tation on the key histori cal sites and figures within Methodism the past 200 years. The film, entitled, "From The Word Go," will feature a 20th cen tury circuit rider malting his way toward the General Conference in Baltimore, Md. with stops along the way in troducing famous places and people in Methodism. This event is being sponsored through the cooperation of the Charge Committee on the Bicentennial. All citizens of Warren Coun ty are cordially invited to attend. She is a junior at Louisburg High School. Participants in this program were nominated by their high school principals.
